This surprises me as well. You pretty much have to have the PIC property already acquired and ready to be contracted when you make the developer points purchase. Perhaps there's some kind of grace period within the initial developer points contract purchase in play that I'm not specifically aware of. When I did this in July 2018 with my two PIC properties - I had to at least have proof of acquisition (not ownership) at the time I went to contract for my developer points and PIC contracts - in other words the PIC contracts were directly attached to the initial developer purchase during the same transaction. My general understanding now is that proof of actual non-Wyndham deed ownership is necessary for PIC Plus as part of the purchase process, but I will say I get mixed messages on these requirements. My best guess here is that the sales rep let the grace period lapse and didn't manage the customer expectation well in the process. In other words - I doubt you were told whatever the grace period was - whether 15 or 30 days or whatever it was. You could employ the "Limited Membership" PIC Plus option and enroll the property on a fee basis instead of tying it to the developer point purchase - but then it's only valid for five years. Keep us posted on what you hear back from Michael Brown's office. If what you're saying here is an accurate assessment of what really happened - this seems like something Wyndham should fix on your behalf as you were acting in good faith with the developer points purchase and are an unhappy customer if Wyndham didn't act in good faith in return.

I know there were some people from the sales office that were saying certain PICs that used to be eligible were being rejected. I confirmed with Annie Roberts that that was not the case. If it’s RCI deposit able and not a Wyndham ownered property, it qualifies.

My PIC was “supposedly” Pre-qualified.
I just had a conversation with Owner Care. (Possibly as a result of my email to Michael Brown). My case has been reopened. They are going to take another look at it. Hopefully they are going to include the PIC I bought in with the CWA points I purchased, and I’ll be VIP Silver.
It will require my contract to get re-written.
I should know in a few weeks. We have copies of the emails from the sales rep stating we had 14 months to get our PIC in. I am optimistic that it will all work out in the end.
I think it was just a case of it being the end of the month, and the end of the quarter, and telesales saying virtually anything to get a deal closed. I’m glad I kept all the emails.
Then I need to decide if I’m going to use the points we will have. I think we can use 500,000. Our track record hasn’t been that good on getting points used up.

Not wanting to hijack this thread at all. But, can someone DM me a couple of telesales people who are reputable to do something similar? I do not want to have this same experience but am very interested in doing something similar without all the drama :)

So glad to hear your case has been re-opened! No way it was re-opened out of the goodness of their hearts so I can pretty much guarantee it was due to your emailing Michael Brown - this is oftentimes what happens IME. I'm also not surprised to hear that your contract has to be re-written - as PIC Plus contracts need to be attached to a developer purchase as previously indicated. I've never heard of any 14 month grace period. That's insane - and if what you're saying is accurate - this is discouraging as I've fielded and read about an number of "ghost" PICs being written by sales reps at local resorts - especially PIC Express contracts - that require less validation historically - but I've never heard about anything like this from telesales in comparison.

Keep ALL communications. I keep all emails from Wyndham - I folder every single one of them - so that if/when I run into trouble - I can refer back to the email threads. I'm really surprised that this occurred with telesales especially - since all email is saved and all phone calls are recorded. This is one of the primary reasons I've always encouraged people to use telesales as opposed to local sales reps. Hopefully, in the end, this proves to be to your advantage.

With respect to using points, I hear you. Hopefully you can get better at booking further in advance over time - which tends to make using larger blocks of points easier. We tend to book our larger family vacations in either ARP or right at the start of the standard reservation window 10 months out - and then book our couples trips within the discount window when possible. I do still have 300k points to use up before Sept 30 after having booked our family vacations though, so gotta go on several long weekend trips between now and then! :)

Haha! Thanks all. Time will tell. What’s a little weird, is that talking to the customer resolution guy, I almost get the impression that they think I’m trying to get away with something. Yet, I sent them the emails that clearly show me questioning if I should hold off on the CWA purchase until the PIC comes through, and the sales rep reassurance that I have 14 months to get it done. Indeed, keep the emails.

Wow. 14 months. That’s the first I’ve heard someone try that. I told Camilla that they were starting to enforce the policy of verifying ownership. Someone may have convinced her of something different. Either way, if someone asks for a contact, I’ll be sending people to my Redmond contact. I hope they don’t start pulling the same nonsense because that rep is the only contact I have left. Thank you for sharing your experience. Because of you, I know to avoid sending people there. I hope everything gets resolved to your benefit. I also hope they do something about that office.

I had a PIC with Grande Caribe in Cancun. The resort was taken over by Hyatt. I can still deposit into RCI but Wyndham will not allow me to deposit for the PIC points even though I have kept the PIC contract current. Know anything about this type of situation? Who is Annie Roberts and could she help with this?

Does your PIC still count towards VIP?

Well, Andrew from Owner Care called me this morning to offer me absolutely zero. They’ve been evaluating this situation for months. He basically said he’s going to see what happens when he hears back from the contracts team. I said, that’s exactly where we’ve been since November! So, maybe in a few more weeks I’ll hear something. These guys at Wyndham are amazing. I sent them the email where I ask the sales rep should I wait until the PIC comes through to buy the CWA points? Her email reply is very clear, no need to wait. I am now a “Corporate Account”. She will handle everything when the PIC comes in. I have 14 months to get it done. What a total lie.. Andrew says, well she just didn’t say that when the PIC comes in, I would have to then buy more points. Even though I had just asked her if would count. So, they still might try to make me buy more points.. Not me. Not happening..

Thanks for the update. I don't know for sure what will happen, but I would think they would offer to cancel your contract before they asked you to buy more points. Owner care has nothing to gain by forcing you to buy more points. I still have my fingers crossed for you.

Well, two more months of back and forth and I received a new contract via DocuSign yesterday. I have my PIC installed as per my original agreement with the telesales representative.
The contracts person has been very good to work with. I was a bit paranoid about my name being on a list as a troublemaker. So that was hopefully avoided by getting a new membership number. I also changed our reservation start date from July 1 to Jan 1. Hoping it will be a bit more simple.
The contract gives me the PIC, but does not make me lifetime Silver (as I was promised). I understand that, as I could sell the PIC and would no longer qualify.
I’m happy though and will get the 250,000 (approx) points every other year, as it’s a bi-annual 4 BR unit we used for a PIC.
Thanks all for the advice. I believe this is a fair resolution.

I'm glad you came back with the resolution. It's frustrating to read about issues and try to give helpful advice and then never find out how it ended.

You should of held firm on the Silver being lifetime as promised. I get the new membership number desire. I have sold all deeds just to rid myself of the old membership number and label of trouble maker. When attending a owner update or WOW and the sales weasel comes out with a stack of papers and asks whats going on with your account its time to change membership numbers. LOL. I asked to read all 50 plus papers and its interesting to know every call to Wyndham is documented in great detail.

If we ever figure out a way to use the points we have, I may add another PIC, or buy points to go to gold. We just aren’t traveling as much as I thought we would with retirement.
