I was wondering if it’s difficult to sell a portion of your Hawaii Collection points if you’re a DRI owner or easier to sell them if you’re a HGV Max owner. DRI was bought out by Hilton a couple of years ago and have a new HGV max owner portal to bring in HGV and DRI owners to join in.
Also, I’ve seen other posts says that we probably have Trust points as compared to a Deed (which may be easier to sell since tied to a specific timeshare location).

DRI points are difficult to give away, much less to sell. The DRI points are not usable for anything except the DRI properties (which are now called Hilton Vacation Club properties). HGV Max is an expensive program to join, and you can't book more that 6 months out. By then the best locations are usually booked.

Thank you for the insights on this! I see that it may be a hard sell as I stumbled on a sell timeshare website that had a bunch of DRI Hawaii Collection for sale with widely varying sale price range for points. I wasn’t sure how long these has been on the market and wasn’t sure if these sellers are DRI owner or HGV Max members that were former DRI owners that migrated over.

Max does not transfer when sold resale, the buyer would need to already have a Max account or make a retail purchase from HGV.

If your Hawaii collection points include two or more contracts, it should be easy to shed a specific contract. However, if you're talking about splitting an existing contract, I suspect that is much more difficult, if not totally impractical.

I don't think that HGVMax is relevant, since that would not transfer with resale.

*******

If you have multiple contracts and you want to shed one (or more) and you are a member of the (formerly Diamond) Club, you should note which one of those contracts was used as your entry into the Club. If you shed that particular contract, it's conceivable that would also terminate your Club membership.
