For home resort rentals, it seems like there is no fee for a guest/renter name change in the reservation.

About RCI exchanges, is there an advantage in owning HGVC when trying to get a unit at a prime location, say DVC Aulani? Or, is the RCI trade power purely based on points that are assigned to your unit and the points of the unit you want.

Hgvc point values for redemptions are fixed. Getting access to prime resorts during prime seasons is still a partial game of luck.

HGVC has a b2b corporate account with RCI in which HGVC pulls anything that's actually available, whether in points or weeks. You points matter not. As long as you have enuff points to "pay" for the exchange using HGVC's own chart (ex.4800 pts = 2br red-week). On-going searches are a useful tool, but for high-demand locations or systems, like DVC, you need to be willing to accept what they offer, even if it's not eggsactly what you want.
