So many people feel cheated or "Scammed" regarding timeshares. There are definitely a lot of people who are disappointed and upset about the timeshare experience. What I wanted to provide was a few ways to attend a sales presentation and end up not feeling scammed.

Timeshares can be an expensive purchase for most people. But by being educated, you have the best chance of not feeling scammed. I discuss four main topics to avoid feeling scammed. The first is to recognize that timeshares are a luxury. The second is to justify the purchase based on the value of the purchase. The third is to make sure you buy what you need to enjoy your experience and lastly make sure you learn the system to maximize the benefits of ownership.

Good stuff as usual. Thanks for sharing.

It becomes a scam when people are lied to. There should be greater consumer protections in this regard.

Appealing to emotion in order to make a sale is not necessarily a scam, but it could lead to buyer’s remorse. Dishonesty during the sales process is what makes it a scam.

The biggest scam going on right now is salespeople telling prospective buyers of the ability to rent to recoup and cover their fees as well as help out with the purchase price. For most of the timeshare brands where this is touted the heaviest, it is either against the timeshare company rules to rent or there is no rental demand for the timeshares. Wyndham, Westgate, Diamond points and Bluegreen come to mind.

When I get those calls, I tell them that I've already sold it.
If I get a call from a solar energy co. or a home improvement company I tell them that I'm renting.

They can't get off the phone fast enough. Plus, they may take me off their call list.
