As outcomes from the Advisory Committee meetings taking place this year? In order, what are they?

Wow, some awfully shy or quiet Royal Resort members here. :confused:

I'm neither - but I am happy, so I really need to think about that one!

Hmmmmm........keeping the Royals forever, a better economic climate for rentals, and less expensive brunch? Silkier sheets and a pillow menu? More shade? About the only thing that comes up here periodically is BBQ grills - I don't care one way or the other about that but wouldn't object.

I'm pretty happy too....how about:

* free shuttle service to the Royal Haciendas?
* bring back "taquiza" Wednesdays at the Sands
* longer happy hours :cheer:

3. A comprehensive restructure of the Advisory Committee and management. Advisory committee members to be elected by a RR member vote - serve a term of 3 years. Members interested for consideration submit a resume to an elected board of members for review, then distribution to all members for vote (vs. sent to RR management). Authority administered to Advisory Members to oversee management personnel. Annual AC meetings webcast to members.

2. Immediate and ongoing implementation of cost saving and revenue generating measures with the primary objective of offsetting member maintenance fees. The Royal Resorts have proven their lack of initiative in this, opting instead to simply raise member maintenance fees. This should be reserved as the last resort, only when all measures have been exhausted, and yet failed to adequately support and offset MF increases. This should be the primary goal of RR management and Advisory Committee members – failure to control MF’s should be considered failure on behalf of management and Advisory Committee members, and accountability for failure enforced. Just like in the real world where inefficient businesses terminate their non-producers; they don’t have the luxury of a steady revenue stream to fall back on.

1. A reduction in member maintenance fees for 2012. Additionally, member price incentives and benefits/perks to incentivize membership over renting. The timeshare world has changed dramatically in the past several years, and the RR has neglected to keep up in some respects. They have chosen to offer identical pricing, benefits, and perks to casual renters at the expense of ostracizing its loyal members. Yes, there have been a few price breaks as of late; however, these are few, and not universal. The incentive today is to rent as opposed to become or remain a member.

I agree with this 100 % The only perk to ownership is having your location and your week without any anxiety. That, however, is not meaningful to everyone and really is only important to me if I have a group going. Otherwise, I can go any week and stay in any villa, I am just glad to be there. They need to offer significant Spa discounts for members, and golf once that is up and going.

Additionally, my largest concern is that they scale back the La Palapa menu to less costly and more basic food so that a family can eat there during the week without spending a fortune and being coerced into buffet dining nightly. The way the menu is structured, if you are going to have a salad or dessert with your entree, it is really close in price to the buffet. My family doesn't like their theme nights at the Haciendas. They seemed to be a little more mainstream at the Royal Sands. The best night is the Poolside Barbeque on Saturday, but that is outside only, and gets cancelled instead of relocated if the weather is bad. It is not that well attended since Saturday is a travel day for the majority of guests.

Good points, Phydeaux. Unfortunately, with point #3 I suspect overall owner apathy, disinterest or feeling of futility will never make this in to a truly productive entity. I see it all the time at our condo complex, and in that case it's 52 weeks of ownership a year.

I would also like to see enhanced benefits of ownership, whether it be food or beverage discounts or more owner appreciation gatherings.

Sorry for slow response, BTW.

Mike

Appears to be other persons posting

It appears that Phydeaux has cut and pasted another persons post from the Royal Resorts Owners web site. A person named Lee is the author of the three items and he is a frequent contributor to the Royal Resort Owners Blog. So the credit should be given to Lee for the idea.
