We are a young family of 4 and got suckered into the sales presentation. We Unfortunately signed a contract for a property and gave them a deposit through our credit card. We want out of it now. This just happened today. I do not have any document in the files they gave me explaining how to cancel. But based on this website I understand we only have a few days. We leave early Saturday morning please help us figure out how to get out of this.

Make an appointment with Members Services tomorrow or Friday to rescind in person. They will try to renegotiate and change your mind, but ultimately cancel the contract.

There are some instructions in the contract pamphlet if you read it carefully. You only have 5 days to get it done.

I agree. Make sure you do it while you are there in person in the country. It will be extremely difficult to do once you leave.

We have gone to Member Services to cancel a contract. They were not pushy with us at all. However, we needed an appointment.

Be sure to read these replies. We are here to help, but ultimately, it's up to you.

Did you get the signed receipt?

Thank you all SO MUCH. I have found that part of the contract re: the 5 days. We tried to get an appointment today with Member Services. They said they had no appointments and gave us tomorrow 9:30 am. I really hope we can get it done tomorrow and they don’t give us the run around. Because we leave the following day very early!!!

The guy I spoke to on the phone at member services said I needed to send him an email with the reason for wanting to cancel so that he could try to convince corporate. But the language of the contract does not have conditions to recission other than doing it within 5 days right??

I am so grateful to you all. Will update after the meeting tomorrow. Please send any tips in the meantime.

That is correct. You need no reason for deciding to rescind because it is your contractual and legal right to do so. If you have the faintest inkling of actually emailing him any reason so he can persuade corporate of anything, cc Profeco and tell him you just don’t desire to own with Vidanta.

They may want to know the reason, so they can tailor an offer to get you to keep the package.

Make sure you get that signed receipt, and make sure it has the correct date on it. Remember dates in México are dd/mm/yy.

Were you able to rescind on time? Please update to help future people who have this situation.

Somewhere in your paperwork, there is this information. It has been in every contract that I have had from them since 1999.

I know that mail in Mexico isn't all that reliable, but should the OP try to also send a letter to the address in this clause? Perhaps going to a post office in Mexico to do it?

They could, but if they are still there, the easiest way is to take everything to Member Services and get it done there. Member Services is not high pressure. If you were to mail it, you would need to do Certified and get a receipt.

Hope they got it done, as their appointment was for Friday and they were leaving Mexico early Saturday. Like so many we've helped to rescind, we may never know until they come around asking how to use or sell what they bought.

Certified Mail is only available when mailing from a USA address to a USA address. When mailing in a foreign country to a foreign country, or when mailing in the USA to a foreign country then one wants to ALWAYS use REGISTERED MAIL .

Registered mail travels with a higher degree of security and must be signed for along the travels prior to its final destination. And, it must be signed by the recipient (or the Company) at the final destination.

Always obtain a Postal Receipt whenever you mail a Certified or Registered Letter. The receipt will clearly indicate the date of actual mailing (Postmark Date).

Thank you ALLLLL SO SO MUCH!! We were successfully able to recind and we are on our way to getting our deposit back in the next 15 days. I have the papers to prove it too.

The process to rescind took 6 hours and we met with 5 different people. They really did keep trying to sweeten the deal. But they never stopped up from cancelling or said no. Everyone was professional. The customer service reps are SO MUCH BETTER and more professional than the sales people.

I appreciate all of your time and effort. This site is seriously a life saver.

Sorry to hear that it took so long, but you did the right thing! Congratulations!

That’s good , glad you were able to get out of the deal.

While we have gone to maybe 100 presentations over the years, wild guess, and said no 99 times, and yes on purpose and with knowledge once, it's not a problem for us to attend. But if you find yourself saying yes, but minutes or hours later thinking no, then, my suggestion is to never attend another presentation in the future and avoid the issue and stress entirely.

Congrats on doing the work to get out though!
