Just left an update where it was explained to me that my points aren't really the best points, and that I needed to pay to "improve them"!
I have looked previously and found some information, but are these 3 different types of points treated differently in any way? I have retail, PIC plus, and UDI piggyback. Are those 3 different buckets? As far as booking or availability, any differences? I was told that due to mix of points I have, I don't have optimum visibility, but combining contracts, and making a nominal purchase of 105k for about 23k, I would have a "power deed" and have better visibility re booking availability. Sounded awesome! Best part is right now I can only see what I see, and, after I pay, I'd only be able to see what I could see after paying - so no idea whether I would actually be seeing more. Clever marketing!
Anyway, I bought nothing, obviously, my visibility seems fine!

Points are points are points. The differences are maintenance fee costs and ARP. After 10 months ARP is no longer a factor. Other than that, points are points after they are purchased.

Sounds like you missed the boat to full visibility. AKA Sales marketing a Boat load of Bulls*** .

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
There may be slightly better points in terms of APR and/or MF for you but certainly not worth the $20,000-$100,000 it would cost to find and purchase the "best" points for you. Sales job is to sell. If you already feel you have enough points, there next step is to find something "wrong" with the points you have or your account with the magic solution to fix the problem is to buy at least $20,000 in new points.

The only thing good about sales selling more points then one needs is Ovations will take them back for free. Sounds like a win-win for Wyndham?

As 55plus said, the only difference is APR. for “Optimum visibility”, you would need Access points, deeded points at every single resort in the system, Margaritaville points, and Presidential reserve points (for all the resorts). If that sounds ridiculous then rest assured, they didn’t take your sanity along with that hour of your life. ;)

Thanks everyone, glad my visibility was fine. If it hadn't been, wouldn't have paid 23k to fix it! Ovations does seem like another Wyndham classic program.

It is true they get to double dip. However, if someone needs out quickly, Ovations is the way to go. I got rid of a small 64,000 point contract that I got for free. From the time I made the call, to the time it disappeared from my account was 4 weeks. If I was in financial trouble, I would need fast. Resale is too slow. Even if Wyndham’s turn around time for private transfers was four weeks, you still have to wait for the transfer companies to do their part which can take 4-12 weeks depending on the company and the resort being transferred. It’s a win for Wyndham, but also a benefit to owners in need.
