How many Hall of Fame players from the Mets, Gaints, Yankees and Dodgers have abuse alcohol, drugs and steroids?
From what I read it was part of the agreement to not release it. Remember Pete agreed to the ban. The evidence was overwhelming.I respect your position, @slip but if they have that evidence, why not release it? What is MLB afraid of? To me, it just isn’t fair to say we have this evidence but we’re not going to show it to you because we’ve already found him guilty. Are there others involved that they let slide? Is there also contradicting evidence they don’t want us to see. Imo, MLB has bungled this whole thing for 40 years. It’s kind of ironic when you think about it, MLB held all the cards, but refused to show them.
I read it years ago so it's out there. The report wasn't released but some of the people involved spoke about it. So you can believe it or not.I've never heard this. I just did a google search and I didn't find any evidence of that. Can you point me to something?

The players have to sign off on the no betting on baseball rule. He knew what he was doing.
I look at the Hall of Fame as a membership to something exclusive. It's not just a record center. Again all my two cents.
I like to answer questions when I'm asked but I also want to make sure people are aware these are my opinions from what I have read. Others can make up there own minds. That's like 6 or 8 cents now we need to keep this going, my MFs are increasing and will be due soon!
That makes sense if you weren't interested in baseball until after the problems arose. By then his true playing career was done. He was a great player, one of the best ever.I only became interested in baseball after this scandal. For me, the betting and resulting ban are the main thing I remember about him.
Might want to google that...Like I said, I dont know his whole story. When i say crimes against people I mean his big bad no no thing was sports betting, he didnt murder anyone or cause physical harm and THAT be his big "negative claim to fame"
He's not Aaron Hernandez or OJ Simpson is what im getting at....
AGAIN if he did do something, apparently that wasnt big enough to constantly be mentioned when his name comes up. I would hope he has not hurt people
I'll pass, thank you.... These days Im afraid of what I might find. I dont know the guy, maybe best to just keep it that way....Might want to google that...

Maybe so. There's plenty of unsavory non-baseball stuff written about Pete Rose.
The fact that his Big Red machine teammates and the players that he managed later in his career all speak highly of him and remained close friends indicates to me that he wasn't that bad a guy. He grew up poor and unrefined and later hung out with some bad people and gambled, but that doesn't make him a bad person. There are a lot of respected entertainment stars and politicians who have done a lot worse things than Pete has, and more big names will likely be identified in the P Diddy investigation. Hopefully, Pete won't be on that list.I'll pass, thank you.... These days Im afraid of what I might find. I dont know the guy, maybe best to just keep it that way....
I think the HBO documentary provides a pretty good presentation of his accomplishments as a player as well as his gambling issues. As a Cincinnati fan, I'd forgotten that he also led the Phillies to a world championship. He is also the only player to every make the All Star team at five different positions. He was an amazing player.I only became interested in baseball after this scandal. For me, the betting and resulting ban are the main thing I remember about him.
I feel everyone who are against Pete Rose should read this article from the WSJ. IMHO.
