Peloton App Question?

Just wanted to jump in here and make a comment:

My nephew bought a Peloton earlier this year, and has been using it regularly. He just completed his 100th ride, which I guess is a milestone of sorts. He has done amazing with it. Between the bike, running, and good eating, has lost more than 150 pounds this year. !!! He looks and feels amazing! He has medical issues, so this is all great news for he and his family.

Dave

I started the Spin Craze back in 2012 when LA Fitness moved in to town. Been doing spin on and off since then. Wish I had kept track of my ride tally. I must have hundreds of rides under my belt. However they are not with Peloton. When Covid settles down and we can get back to normal I will get my feet over to the Peloton Studios on the West Side in NYC and get on a class in real time. Until then I am a free wheel spinner taking the spins ad hoc! Loving it!

That would be cool, to do a spin class live in the studio. I wonder how they signed up members for that pre Covid. I’m sure the demand must be high for the limited number of bikes there. I went by there last week and was thinking the same thing.

I did Robin’s Turkey Burn ride today and she is awesome and it was such an inspiring ride. These Peloton instructors and the music they use raise these classes to a whole other level.

Looks like they have some sort of live membership plan? I would hope by this time next year things will be back to normal and they will open up again. https://studio.onepeloton.com/

One of my favorite things about Peloton -- I "like" a song I hear in class and it appears in my Spotify playlist.

Hey Peloton-ers.

Yesterday was 3 weeks since I woke up sick from Covid / strep and today was my first day on the bike where I felt really good. YAY.

BTW I've decided that Dennis Mortenson is one of my favorite instructors. I tend to like the male instructors better. He's a little "older" and he's a straight forward instructor.

Tomorrow I'm going to the gym for the first time in a few weeks. I box on Saturday. It will be tough .

I just bought a Peloton bike for our daughter-in-law and son. They are very excited, but the demand for these bikes is so great, the earliest delivery date is now mid-Feb - ARGH! I should have ordered this months ago. What was I thinking?

In the meantime, they get full digital access, so I was wondering if any of you Peloton owners/members would be willing to share your favorite classes/instructors on the app, other than biking/treadmill classes? Our kids are really into biking, hiking, yoga, strength, fitness...

PamMo,
We did the same thing for our Daughter and SIL, albeit ordered in early November. They were originally given an early January delivery date but by calling Pelo customer service every few days we were able to get them an earlier delivery date.
Their bike was delivered last Saturday, a full 5 weeks AHEAD of schedule! This past week I did cycle rides with Video chat with my daughter and my Granddaughter...it was Awesome! We are all loving our bikes!

Thanks, Brian. I'd read your earlier post and was given a little bit of hope when I saw your kids got their bike early. That would be a very nice surprise! I hope my kids can find some good digital classes they will enjoy while they wait. With winter setting in, Covid surging, the days of stay-at-home work/school with three kids are getting l-o-n-g. They are SO excited about getting the Peloton! (We already told them.)

I haven't found any bad classes! Just can't do enough of them :) Love the yoga!

How was boxing?

I am still enjoying Denis Morton. He makes me laugh! My Pelly is doing everything I hoped! Love it!

I am using the Peloton app without the Peloton bike. I own an old bike in my house, not Peloton. So my choice was to install this app to take advantage of the brand's fitness content. Although I will lose some things, I will make up for them by taking on-demand classes and starting my fitness journey.

Great to hear Dalton. Its a great workout resource with tons of content across many activities (Cardio, strength, stretching, yoga and even meditation). I am still using my Peloton bike several times a week and just reached my 900th ride. I even got to do a "live class" at Peloton Studios in New York yesterday for my milestone ride. I hope you find it useful and worthwhile for your fitness journey.

I just did my 900th ride recently too :)

The app is great and has tons of off-bike material. I like to do the outdoor walks/jogs and the strength training. Sometimes I use a non Peloton treadmill at a friend's house to do Peloton tread content. And yes you can use the app on other bikes but adjusting the resistance to match the instructor's cues is harder on a non Peloton bike than on a non Peloton tread. Treadmills just have a lot more similarity between brands than spin bikes. That said, if you figure out how to set your FTP zones on your spin bike then you can do all the powerzone content on Peloton in exactly the way the instructor calls it out, even better than the people who ride with the instructor in the studio can do it! Powerzones are tailored to your specific fitness and are very individual. Your zone 2 is different than my zone 2. (don't confuse with heartrate zones, that's different). Anyway, if you haven't tried powerzone, give it a try.
