Palm Beach in July? Really?

Comparing HHI (Grande Ocean) and Fort Lauderdale (BeachPlace):

Hilton Head Island
July II demand index of 150
July average high 89 average low 74
July water temp average of 85

Fort Lauderdale
July II demand index of 120
July average high 90 average low 75
July water temp average of 86

This was exactly my thoughts when I purchased at MVO, Gold. South Carolina summer week is hard to find and most likely very expensive even resale. I wanted a summer beach vacation for kids being out of school and love the warm water. I don't get why people think Florida would be any hotter than South Carolina.

We were there last July the weather was perfect (75 - 82) with a beautiful constant ocean breeze, and warm water! Now in direct contrast back home in Chicago, the weather was hitting record high heat over 100 degrees plus humidity. The only relief if we were home would of been to stay indoors and hope we didn't have a power outage from over usage of air conditioners!

I love Florida beaches in the summer, I will be at Oceana Palms this 4th of July with my husband and all 4 kids, age range 22 down to 10!

I think we need a Tug meet up for all of us Palm Beach summer lovers!

Shhhhhh. :ignore:

We want people to think it sucks down here in the summer. :annoyed:
Stop building it up. :p

I think the negative perception comes from visiting Disney in the summer. They just assume it's worse at the beach but Orlando is like a greenhouse in the summer so it's wayyyyy worse than the beaches. The only reason IMO to visit Orlando in the summer is to go to the waterparks otherwise there's no place like the beach. I have 4 weeks of TS stays booked at the beach already this year and am looking for a 5th. Saves me on Air conditioning. Cheaper to stay in a TS than to stay home.

Palm Beach is absolutely horrible in the summer. I would never own a Gold week at Ocean Pointe. ;)

Kidding aside, we love West Palm Beach in the summer. I totally get the Orlando thing. A few years ago we had some friends come and stay with us at Ocean Pointe during July. The one friend was dead set on going to Disneyworld, so we drove up to Orlando and did the Disneyworld thing. Between the heat, humidity, and a billion people, it literally was a horrible day.

LOL, I think it is because most folks living in the Northern Hemisphere assume a city 400 miles south of them is a little toastier!

Having said that, according to the Weather Underground website, the average daily high in the middle of July is about a 1 degree difference between the two coastal destinations.

2 years ago we went to orlando for 10 days in June, OMG the heat was relentless!! My daughters forehead swelled from the heat, I thought I would not go back again in the summer but.... now that I've been heading to PB I cant resist adding on at least a couple days at Disney, so we did it again last summer in July and we got lucky it was not as bad as the year before. This coming summer I tacked on a week at the Boardwalk after the week at MVO. At least I know the Palm Beach weather will be Fabulous, and think of all the money I'll save in utilities, being on vacation for 2 weeks!!(good one!);)

absolutely right, and thanks for being so brutally honest.......the beaches are covered in sand, your ears are whistling from the breezes, people are walking around half naked, and the darn pools are all full of water. wouldn't even consider it.

That is hilarious
