Our last two II stays did not qualify for Bonvoy nights

The one time I didn't charge something to our room, at Westin Mission Hills, is the one time I I never did get the credit. On day of checkout I realized I hadn't charged anything. They had no marketplace and the bar & grill didn't open until after we were leaving. I find that Marriott resorts are much more consistent with posting Elite Night Credits even without a room charge.
I agree, I do think the room charge to generate a folio seems to be the key. I'm currently at WMH and they now have a small marketplace just across from the fitness room - not sure if this is a new addition, but it just has some basic essentials and snacks which could be charged to the room in a pinch.

For some reason I've ended up with an error message about half the time when using the app or website - it can find the reservation number from the II confirmation but won't allow my Bonvoy number to be added, so I pretty much just call in.
IF more than one name is listed on the confirmation, try both names.

I’m not sure how this would work since I dont have the option to add an additional name when adding the found reservation into my Bonvoy account.

You could be right that there is a mismatch in that Bonvoy is only in my name whereas the II confirmation has both our names on it.

With II, things can get confusing. Each owner can have their own web profile and when they make a reservation the name on the reservation is the one from that profile. So perhaps one person is the primary owner, but reservations are being made in the other person's web profile. So far, I've never had an issue looking up a reservation in the mobile app. Website is a different story.

Generally two names are on the confirmation if there are 2 owners listed. I don't believe more than 2 will be listed even if there are more than 2 MVC owners on a deed. If there is more than one listed, just try both names. Also double check the spelling since sometimes there are legal names that may vary from what one generally uses.

Sorry to dredge up an old post but I had an unexpected result after staying at Nanea (II exchange) last month. I added my Bonvoy number and charged some meals to the room. The nights credit posted within a couple of days but no points ever posted. Question - the folio includes the taxes and the room charges. If points were to post, would it be just the restaurant charges not the taxes, right? I am trying to decide if it is worth it to me to fight this.

Taxes, Parking, and Resort Fees do not earn points- so only the restaurant charges would be eligible.

Something similar happened to me. The points for my stay at Son Antem in August also didn't post. I bought about $100 at the market place. I never stopped by the front desk to get a folio so I decided to not pursue ...

The nights for the stay posted almost right away.

We've not gotten nightly credit on our last two II stays. One was Sheraton Vistana which that does seem to be very hit or miss. But the other was Marriott Village d'ile-de-France. The Bonvoy number was listed on the reservation. The response that we received was that it doesn't qualify because it was a contract rate.

Is this the norm now?
I don’t know what is the norm now other than BonVoy has become more of a PIA then it used to be.

FWIW, we had a stay at Summit Watch last May and didn’t have an issue getting BonVoy night credits. I had our BonVoy number listed on the reservation before we arrived. At the time, I didn’t have an issue adding the reservation to my BonVoy account. From what I’ve been reading on TUG, the ease of adding II exchanges to BonVoy account has changed.

What restaurant were the charges from? Some establishments are owned by third parties and don’t qualify for Bonvoy points

Restaurant charges at St Thomas, don't count as its a separate business.
At least for Hyatt, you can't even charge to the unit for restaurant charges at HYP.

It was the Inu Pool Bar.

I think that I will just let this go. I was happy to get the nights credit without a fight. I will take that as a win.

Thanks.

I would have expected that to be eligible. Most often the Marketplaces onsite are third party and if you got Shave Ice, that too. Same with restaurants that are definitely third party like Longhi's at Maui Ocean Club. I thought all the pool bars were operated by Marriott Vacations.
