Obsessiong over a vacation??

When we were younger, we had too many commitments to use Space-A. As you pointed out, sometimes you never knew where you were going or when you'd get back. Getting a free flight was a good deal until you had to purchase a last minute commercial return flight.... We still have a lot of commitments but don't need to adhere to such a stringent time schedule. That goes for commercial and military "free" flights.

Plan for us and others

I live to vacation and love planning, though it is a lot of work. Totally OCD. I find that the more planning you do the more you have the opportunities to do and see more things than most other people. People often ask me how I can find so much to do in 16 years going to our Vermont resort and I tell them- READING! Never run out of new things. And, when we travel elsewhere, same thing- reading and planning and asking questions.

We love to vacation and travel. My motto is "I live to vacation and vacation to live". We decide when and where (had to do this when kids were in school and now with granddaughter in school) and if flying usually plan for two weeks or more. We have to plan because we own at three owned week resorts plus Worldmark points.
We plan some of the bigger things then play it by ear. We sometimes put 2-3 thousand miles on the rental car on these two week trips.
