New tier level in HH

I do not want to start another thread about the HH Diamond Reserve, so I'm going to add on to this one.

If you have paid your 2026 MF (I'm addressing the owners paying $18k+ in MF) have you been upgraded to Diamond Reserve?
In my experience, neither HGV purchases nor MF payments have ever counted toward Honors Elite spending requirements, and I have not seen anything to indicate that has changed.

Nor do you get night credit for TS stays like you do with Bonvoy. Of course MF don’t count towards spend with Marriott either.

The Hilton Honors app now includes a counter towards the spend. It didn't move when I paid my MFs.

The new Diamond reserve is harder to obtain than Marriott Ambassador with less benefits in my opinion. Marriott Ambassador has higher spend threshold but you can get ENC through credit cards (40 nights). I think the $18k is pretty reasonable but the 80 nights is a lot more dedication.

Most work travel averages about $300/$400 per night with meals exc. which means most people would hit the spend with 60 nights roughly.
I think most people won’t get both the business and personal Bonvoy cards, so the 40 Bonvoy nights through credit cards is more like 25. This means it’s closer to 75 nights (they do run 2-1 ENC), but it’s still a lot closer. Marriott does count TS nights though.

I think most people chasing status have both, but usually the ones really chasing it don’t go for Ambassador. A lot of the people who hit Ambassador, and now the new Diamond, are probably doing it from work travel.

I’ve spent close to six months straight in hotels before COVID. These days it’s more like 30 to 50 nights.

And I think they want the work Travellers as they don't care about the prices cause work is paying.

Yes and no. We always had guidelines on how much we could spend on hotels or flights based on certain factors. Now that it is mostly driven by AI, we have to justify why we selected a certain flight or hotel if it exceeds the lowest cost by a certain percentage.

I don't travel much in my current role, but I used to do between 100 and 120 nights a year. I had both quarterly and annual travel budgets to keep to.

Of course this is a big play for the business traveler. They made a big push for Hilton for Business last year then revamped the loyality program.

We saw one of these Diamond Elite signs at the Hampton Inn in Hood River back in July 2018. Think they've had this in mind for quite some time. I believe it's still there.

What also was interesting is the reference to apartment style / condo style brand. The concern is it's basically through this other company Placemakr which ... well, we see what happened with Marriott's recent subcontracting out stays. I am apprehensive on that. OTOH, it seems like this is the Hilton Hotel brand trying to compete (maybe) in VRBO/AirBnB world, and perhaps TS as well in terms of accommodations. Though I wonder if they can get the price competitive ...
