I recently sent a request to SVN, via MSC, to add a day to an existing reservation. They then canceled my existing reservation and created a new one, thus changing my timestamp.

This may be the first time I've done this but I've read posts here about this issue for years, and thought they had a method for simply modifying existing reservations. This particular reservation is for WDW so I really don't care too much about the timestamp but I did think it was odd the way it was handled. After all, I could have simply canceled the reservation myself online and created a new one.

What service did SVN do me in this instance other than take two days to get it done?

They can't actually add a day to an existing reservation - they have to cancel reservation #1 and make reservations #2 with a new confirmation number. So yes, you can just do it yourself.

I do not believe their system allows them to modify a reservation.

This is a similar problem with you split a 2 bdm. lock-off into separate confirmations - after the split, only one of the confirmations will display the deed view - the other one always displays a Staroption reservation. This causes lots of issues, and they say they can't over ride it.

Let's hope that Interval will revamp the computer system!

 at sending a request to SVN via MSC...

Happy New Year my Friends, and even greater vacations in 2016

You can't add a day. You can either stick with two reservations, and then possibly have to change villas (meaning you have to be out by 10am and will not be allowed to check back in til possibly 4pm), or they can cancel your reservation and make one for the entire 8 days.

Me? I'd rather lose my timestamp and not have to change villas.

Ditto to the above posts. To add insult to injury they will tack on the fee for cancelling the reservation if you add on inside of 60 days.

I guess they did it without risking you losing the existing reservation nights when it was cancelled.

Thanks for the replies.

In future, I'll just do this myself.

I think that is the only reason to call. If there is a possibility that the original week would be taken by an ongoing request between the time you cancelled and rebooked the 8 nights.

When SVN cancels, they seem to be able to hold the cancelled unit so it doesn't immediately go back into general circulation so even if for some reason they can't book the reservation as 8 nights, they could get back the original reservation.

I reduced my stay by one night at Harborside and the rep had to cancel and rebook. I asked and was told that there was no risk of losing my reservation when the rep made the change.
