Just one final thought on this matter. The breakup of a relationship when the couple has such a young child must be extremely traumatic for all involved, but particularly for the mother. After all it is generally she who is expected to take overall responsibility for the child. The father's income is unlikely to be affected, but the mother could be in a situation of financial hardship and sees the 50/50 split of time as beneficial to both her and the baby.
The last thing that is needed is for 'interested and concerned' third parties to get involved, on either side.
All hypothetical, although I do get a sense that there is an underlying attempt here to brand the mother as a bad parent.
