I also find many of the "I am going to ignore you" posts that I see here and in other places to be rather juvenile. Personally, if you don't want to see something, just setup the ignore and move on. I see no reason to advertise it other than to stoke or enflame the conversation even more.

About TUG BBS forum. This would allow users to ignore entire threads or forums if so desired. The thing I don't like about the ignore function for users is that I can see "You are ignoring this member" when one of their posts is in the thread or quoted. Seems silly to setup an ignore only to see that someone I am ignoring posted something. I almost inevitably click on the link to show the ignored content. Curiosity killed the cat I suppose.
