Glad both passengers escaped unharmed. It seems McLaren doesn't yet know how to build HEV/PHEVs safely given this model is already under recall here in the US due to known fire risk issues. It's also worth noting that statistically HEV/PHEV models are by car the most common vehicle fires when compared to both ICE and BEV vehicles given the inherent additional complexity of having both an ICE and a battery propulsion system under the same hood so to speak.

I was an on owner of a 1967 MGB-GT
Was stationed at Long Beach Naval Shipyard on a Fletcher Class Destroyer
I loved the car
Bought it after my 1959 Corvette caught fire and burned to a crisp
Fuel Line came loose and caught fire on the exhaust pipe
I learned all about Positive ground issues with the MG and Lucas electrics
Other than that it was pretty reliable

Back in the 80's, I worked with a guy who was restoring a TR6. He showed me the travesty that was a headlight switch (Lucas Electric) and it was a piece of crap.

I think in the 60's Jaguar, many times the Lucas generator (Dynamo) was converted to a Ford alternator.

A few points - an 11 mile range makes it about as an EV as Barbie car. The fire risk is from GASOLINE

1) Some 164 Arturas, which feature a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine made in Britain, were recalled in December by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It warned of a fire risk that stems from a high-pressure fuel pipe that can become loose.

2) Is the McLaren Artura a plug-in hybrid?

McLaren's first plug-in hybrid can also tootle around town on purely electric power for up to 11 miles and has a relatively soft ride.

One of my college roommates (Class of '67) died in a TR7. It rolled over.

I never cared for the design of the TR-7 but I loved the Spitfire Mark IV I drove as a second car for three years before I bought an MGB to replace it. The only problem I ever had with it was a gasket leak of rainwater into the gas tank, but replacing the gasket fixed that.

Ford recalls 634,000 vehicles worldwide over fire risks

Ford Motor Co is recalling 634,000 sport utility vehicles (SUVs) worldwide over fire risks from possible cracked fuel injectors and will urge owners to have their cars inspected, it said on Thursday.

Ford recalls 125,000 vehicles over engine failures that can cause fires

Ford Motor Co said on Tuesday it is expanding and issuing a new recall for 125,000 sport utility vehicles and trucks because engine failures may cause a fire.

America's No.2 automaker by sales said the recall covers 2020-2023 model year Bronco Sport and Escape SUVs with 3 cylinder, 1.5 liter engines, including many also recalled in April because an oil separator housing could crack and develop a leak that could cause an engine fire. Vehicles repaired under the earlier recall will still need the new recall fix, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.​

Here is a couple in Edinburgh, Scotland, who drove their Tesla into town for dinner in the rain, had dinner, and after dinner the car would not start. After a prolonged wait, the Tesla tow truck took their car in to see what was wrong. It seems the rain had effected the battery and they needed a new one at over US$20,000. On top of that, they were told that Tesla's 8 year warranty on the battery did not cover rain, so they would have to pay that all themselves.

The pair have told of the "excruciating stress" that has been caused by the ordeal, with Tesla allegedly demanding they pay for the battery that stopped working after a drive in the rain.
