We have two units reserved at MOC for Thanksgiving week (normally a very high demand week). We're unable to coordinate family schedules so we listed those weeks for rent on redweek. Redweek has a banner alerting potential renters about the ongoing construction activities. Unsurprisingly, this has driven down the price of renting a unit from an owner. We got only 50% of what the same units were rented for two years ago. Although the actual disruptions at the resort may be minor, the impact is huge.

The 2023 Lahaina fire could have something to do with demand also. According to this Oct 2024 Lahaina flyover update, tourism is still way below pre-fire levels.

Tourism is down for hotels, but I think timeshares are running at 100% or close to it.

Just wanted to update the currently the construction is taking place in the Lanai units of the old section.
Looked like the whole ocean front stack- work was visible from lobby (near the big scrabble board and owners lounge).
We didn’t see or hear any work going anyplace else, no amenities affected- wouldn’t have known anything if we hadn’t walked by in the lobby area.

This is interesting. When I was there in August they were working on the entire ocean view side of the lanai tower and half of the ocean front unit, the ones that are adjacent to the ocean view units. I was hoping those units were completed based on the boards recent letter saying something like 60? Units were done. Could it be that they are working on the other half of the lanai tower ocean front now? Those would be adjacent to the Mountain View side?
