Marriott's Ocean Pointe Owners and Friends

Never happened to me, but I'm curious if it's parents and kids for spring break. We brought our 2 kids with us when they were old enough to stay in a studio by themselves. We had 2 studios. ( 2) 1 bedrooms would have been great with the extra room
They actually were put in 2 studios. The kids are 11 and 13. There is another couple with them. So 4 in a studio and 2 in the other studio.

Ugh!!! That stinks. What did you use to reserve it? II, points, owner's week?

Editing to say the person who has been in charge of rooms control was moved to Oceana Palms. As far as I know the people running that department are temporary.

We're here with this new furniture arrangement.

Do you ever change the furniture around? I might get some flack but we moved the sofa so that we can have a full view of the beach (oceanfront). The living area is soooo cozy. I'm loving it. We wondered if it would block the door to the studio but since we're not using that it didn't matter. Anyway, it doesn't.

The dining room has all this open space on the wall opposite the table. It looks like it's missing something.

I don't think people care if you move furniture. We often do the same. We just move it back before we leave.

If you booked a 2 BR and actually only received two studios you definitely should get reimbursement for your inconvenience. Was this reservation using ownership week, points, cash rental, or some other method. I've never heard of anyone not receiving what they actually reserved in my 35+ years of MVC ownership and would be very upset. Ocean Point has one of the highest MF's right now and it appears their management has really gone downhill.

It is peak season and perhaps they have some maintenance issues in a 2BR villa and someone had to get the short end of the stick?

At OP now. New locks require new wristbands as you noted. However, get a regular keycard as we’ve had problems getting the wristbands to work at the gates and elevators consistently.
I had the same experience. Only worked room door.

It was booked using MVC points. The compensation was $150 food & bar credit.

Were they ever able to accommodate you in the room you booked? Were you moved later in the stay?

Did they move you after the first night? Were you able to feed the 6 of you for $150? I haven't eaten at the Tiki Bar yet this year but another guest said her tab (without drinks) was very high.

I play a mental game for the value of my 2 bedrooms. M/f for this year (weeks ownership) is $2912. My game is 2/3 of that is Master and 1/3 is studio. 2 studios would be $1941. That leaves $971 as missing value for the entire week. 1/7 would be $138. Add inconvenience to that. The cost for a week is more when using MVC points. Sorry, but I think they got off cheap.

They moved them the next day so only 1 night in 2 studios. And $150 was not enough to feed 6 people at On The Rocks!

I know they got off cheap! But my daughter and family were OK with it. Maybe I should ask for some points back?

I would definitely send an email to MVC customer care and request a refund for the difference in points between two studios and a 2 BR for the night, plus an inconvenience fee. This is clearly a breach of contract and MVC will lose a lot of credibility in their points program if situations like this increase in the future. I would send the email to a higher level if you can get the contact information, and cc the GM at Ocean Pointe. Your were unable to cook meals for your family for a day, so you should fairly be compensated for food expenses that day.

LOL - no kidding. You might get through one meal there if you don't drink alcohol.

I booked a 2 bedroom at Ocean Pointe many months ago for my daughter and her family. They checked in and were told they don't have any 2 bedrooms available and are putting them in 2 different 1 bedroom units and will try to move them tomorrow. Has this happened to anyone else? This does not seem right.
I would be flipped and livid. Definitely escalate this to Management.

Love Ocean Pointe! I also love TUG, but I do miss the Yahoo group. It provided specific and relevant info to this resort only.

Anyhow, anyone know the latest design plan for the Pavilion, which is being demo’s currently?

The rebuilt Pavilion will have all new Trex Flooring, new railings, new chair seating, a new sound system as well as a new canopy. The entire project should be completed next month sometime between mid and late May.

I don't recall the pavilion being all that old, is it?

Pavilion? Are we talking about the high tides bar between Dolphin and Cobia buildings? Of that’s the case it’s been around simce the early 2000’s. We’ve owned OP since 2001, just before Cobia opened, and it’s been there as long as I can remember

I understand it to be the gaziboey thing that is outside the Marketplace where they hold, or held, the owner meetings on Tuesdays (?).

No, not the bar but the covered area in front of activity center and market place. We have owned since first year opened and initially it was a large grassy area.

Can someone send some current photos of the new villa furniture and the pavilion updates. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

I am pretty sure that Doug's video shows the new villa furniture that they've been putting in with the renovations. We'll be there in July and will have a video from a 2BR lock off.

Doug26364 thanks for sharing another outstanding video of Ocean Pointe. On our visit we stay in the Sailfish building. Awesome view of the pool areas and the ocean.
