Hello owners , we recently purchased 3bedroom platinum ocean front week directly from Marriott in a hybrid with points purchase included. We typically visit Marriott ocean watch in Myrtle beach and still love it . But this year we want to start coming to ocean pointe on palm beach as well. Is the beach a good place to surf and swim for beginners?
Nice purchase. When do you plan to visit the resort?

There are surfers (locals) who take advantage of the waves when it's stormy. Your message asked about swimming for beginners. Are the surfers also the beginner swimmers? When it's not windy or stormy the hardest part is entering and getting out of the water at the beach as there is a curl of undertow. It can knock you to your knees. You have to time the wave when getting in and out. Once you're in you can find the sandbar if you want shallower water.

There is a nearby county beach (Phil Foster Park) that is connected to the intercoastal waterway. It is generally easy swimming. There's many classes for snorkeling and diving that go off that beach. It's under the Blue Heron bridge. It's busy with locals on weekends and school holidays but pretty quiet during the week. When the wind is high for days at OP (like it can be during the Platinum season) we will take our chairs over there for a quiet day at the beach.

Our fav restaurant is Guakamoles. It's just a small hole of a place but within walking distance and high quality food. It's always a treat to visit Sailfish Marina. They can be very busy if you wait until 6 for dinner. Lunch and midday is better. We also like their tiki area for a light dinner.

One thing you might want to do is spend a day on Peanut Island. You can go to the museum and then the beach. Maybe even see manatees if you roam the island. There is a man made reef for snorkeling. Waves are pretty calm there. There are bathrooms for changing. Pack a picnic, there's no food service. You get there by water taxi from Sailfish Marina.

Maybe you can call the concierge before you get to the resort to go over things that would interest you. Then you're not spending precious OP time making your plans.

I sure do miss the Yahoo group we had. Every year I feel more disconnected. Especially since 2020. There are friends who left that year and haven't been back.

How many of the Yahoo group are still monitoring this page on TUG? Do you also monitor the OP Facebook page? Are you currently wintering at OP?

We're currently at OP until 4/7.

22 year owners. Have stayed with TUGGS. Always go in May but unfortunately the last few years in May all the transient, weekend clowns seem to wreak havoc at the property

Owners for 20 years. Miss the Yahoo group but have learned so much from the TUGGS postings. We are currently at OP until 3/16. Didn't know there was an OP Facebook page; guess I'll check it out.

Morning all: Parents owned two gold lock off weeks; I now own them but am not using them. Have contacted Marriott about surrendering them and they will take them back--no cost but no compensation. What am I missing? I don't seem to see much action in resales of these units.

Gold season is Summer at Ocean Pointe. I wouldn’t just give them back to Marriott as they likely have some value- you should be able to sell them. You can check Redweek for comparable listings that have sold to get an idea. They may be worth a couple thousand each in my judgment.

The problem is that there are a lot of listings out there. Huge increases in annual maintenance fees over the last couple years have a lot of people wanting to off load their weeks. Gold weeks may actually have a little less value that silver as silver was actually granted more Club Points when the program was rolled out. I would think one could sell one of these, but giving it back might just be a lot easier and less trouble.

At least Ocean Pointe has lockoffs and decent II exchange value. I'm more likely to get rid of Oceana Palms that earn few points, have high MF's, and the monstrosity next door has devalued resort ownership.

My wife and I had to cancel our Ocean Point weeks this month due to a family health emergency.
We had purchased tickets for of 42nd Street at the Maltz Jupiter Theater at 7:30 PM on March 29th which we now cannot use. These are orchestra front row tickets that originally cost $172 including fee. If anyone is interested in going in our stead?

Are they enrolled? Do you not use them because you:

Don't like Ocean Pointe?
Can't plan ahead to make reservations?
Don't understand how to maximize value from them?

No one interested? Did I mention the tickets are FREE? We just don't want them to go to waste!

We were part of the Yahoo group and really found it easy to get info. Suzanne was great in keeping it updated. I haven't been on the Facebook page. We are at OP usually the 1st 2 weeks in March. Really miss a lot of people who were always there at the same time we are.

Did you use the Yahoo groups from the website, like posting to a forum? Or just use it like an email group?

I beleive Google has a similar system with Google Groups. I don't know much about it.

But Yahoo Groups had at least two methods to contact members of the group. You could post questions and responses to a website, or you could send an email to the group's email address and then everyone would get that email. Replying to emails also sent an email to all group members. The website worked similar to a web forum like TUG.

Most of the groups I subscribed to on Yahoo migrated to groups.io. Similar thing to Yahoo.
