If it's a simple check in - only one villa where you and everyone else in the villa is allowed charging privileges - then I expect it will make check in easier.I've never used the Marriott Vacation Club App to check-in, but just received an email regarding checking in on the app for my upcoming vacation at Ford's Colony. Is there any advantage to using or not using the app for check-in?
Mobile keys are a pain in the butt, not a “feature” they should be putting effort into. When they work, it takes 10x longer to get into your room with a mobile key than with a keycard. It’s a feature without a benefit (it would be useful if you forgot or lost your keycard, but otherwise it has no value in my opinion.)I attended the owner's coffee at Ocean Palms this week, and the front office manager said the online check-in is still a work in progress. They are planning to have mobile room keys for your phone by the end of the year. Personally, I never use the room keys on my phone for hotels that offer it, so that's not really exciting to me.
No idea how they will handle the parking pass, etc., if they do get the keys working on your phone. Actually, I am not sure the parking pass does much more than force you to see the concierge to schedule an update...
It probably varies by property. I’ve not been asked any of the pre-answered questions when I’ve done the advance checkin, and so I reckon it’s saved me 3-4 minutes at the front desk each time. But probably there are some properties or some people who aren’t using the provided information to save you time.I checked in on the app, no advantage whatsoever. Got asked all the questions again when checking in in person at the front desk, despite already answering them in the app. No time savings.
I suspect the real purpose of online check in is to collect or confirm your info for timeshare sales.
