This may be saving a minute? You still need keys, as JohnPaul said, plus you need a parking pass (probably) for your windshield, plus plus plus. Oh yes, the obligatory haranguing about attending a presentation. I'm fine with going to the front desk.I suspect it is similar to the "pre check in" process at another of our timeshares. You complete most of your information on line. At check in you basically just show ID and get your keys.
Why don't they just use biometrics like TSA does. They have found out that IDs aren't a good way to verify identity.I suspect it is similar to the "pre check in" process at another of our timeshares. You complete most of your information on line. At check in you basically just show ID and get your keys.
On one hand I feel insulted. Is there a place on the app to rant so everyone can hear "I'm chairman level so I'm entitled to the best unit". If not it'll never catch on....![]()
Are you a check-in ranter? On one hand I feel insulted.
On the other hand we haven’t had a bad room assignment either.![]()
We have a resort which does pre-check in online. It does make the process quicker at the desk, but we do still have to stop at the desk and do the CC thing and get our room keys. Not to mention picking up the parking pass from the concierge.I suspect it is similar to the "pre check in" process at another of our timeshares. You complete most of your information on line. Nope. I take the unit they give us.Are you a check-in ranter?
It looks like Vistana owners can use the Vistana app as well. I received an email and it shows a window of expedited check in beside the upcoming stays.Appears it’s done via the MVC app. Available at most US resorts.
Apologies if you found it insulting, its something that I hear too often and I have no idea whether the people actually are that level or not as there are people who would try it on no matter what. I'm not talking about someone who courteously asks for unit assignment in line with what they are entitled to for their OBL, its the loud ranting that is the issue. Thank you for not being one of themBut we are Chairman’s level and it is slightly insulting to insinuate that chairman’s level owners cry about not getting the very best units.
After owning timeshare for 27 years I hear you, but it’s not just chairman’s level. I’ve seen grown adults throw temper tantrums over unit placement that were weeks exchangers (pre-points and ownership levels) from the very beginning. Ocean Pointe use to be one of the worst for adults throwing a tantrum. Probably because they use to have very high owner occupancy and they tried to rotate the prime locations as much as possible so everyone got a chance at a good view. Entitled exchange guests who owned multiple weeks seemed to be the worst from what I witnessed. I once sat in a group “update” and listened to a woman complain the entire time about how she couldn’t get an exchange into Hawaii. When asked she said she stared looking for exchanges about 30 days out from her desired check in. I’ve always blamed sales and marketing for the lies they tell to get you to buy more. I’m afraid it’s only become worse as the years have gone on.Apologies if you found it insulting, its something that I hear too often and I have no idea whether the people actually are that level or not as there are people who would try it on no matter what. I'm not talking about someone who courteously asks for unit assignment in line with what they are entitled to for their OBL, its the loud ranting that is the issue. Thank you for not being one of them, and good to hear that the system delivers unit assignment in line with your OBL and expectations without the need to rant.
I took this as tongue in cheek. The front desk meltdowns are a pet peeve of mine. I'm sure I don't have enough info to judge what groups are most likely to do this but I believe that personality is the main factor. Beyond that I suspect it's new owners, clueless owners and renters mostly because they are unaware and ill informed of what they actually bought. I'm always amazed at long term owners who are so ill informed of what they own and the realities of timesharing. But mostly it's PPP.Is there a place on the app to rant so everyone can hear "I'm chairman level so I'm entitled to the best unit". If not it'll never catch on....![]()
Don't take it personally, I'm select level and still bitch about the unit I receive..lol..Nope. I take the unit they give us.
Personally I hate the complainer giving the people at check in a hard time over the unit they received.
But we are Chairman’s level and it is slightly insulting to insinuate that chairman’s level owners cry about not getting the very best units.
FWIW, I looked closer at this through the app. It’s not really advanced check in. It’s just advanced registration. As noted by @davidvel you’re still going to have to go to the guest registration desk to complete the process. Hopefully it speeds things up a little.
You offer up your wife to gain a better room assignment? Hmmmmm.Even worse than complaining is offering a bride to affect the unit assignment IMO.
My belief is they wouldn't do it unless it worked often enough. Staff should call a manager and security and escort them out of line until they are cordial, then send them to the back of the line.I took this as tongue in cheek. LOL, no but I'll use your credit card to Venmo them LOL.You offer up your wife to gain a better room assignment? Hmmmmm.![]()
I’d like to think it will cut down a little time so long as people use the option. It does hell a little at the resort we own that’s been doing pre-registration, but not by a lotHopefully it speeds the process up, as certain resorts/time periods have lengthy waits.
But, I was still hoping for the entire bypass of the registration/front desk to go directly to my room. Extra points if I see my welcome packet already in the room.
One can dream....
