Marco Island Crystal Shores View

I will be staying at Marriott Crystal shores in early August with the choice of two view types, island view and poolside higher floors view. Is the poolside higher view worth the extra points that time of year? If so would you suggest requesting a south or west facing room? Also, do any of those views get some shade during the day in early August? The balconies look fantastic and we'd like to be able to spend some time on them during the day. We always stay in the gulf front units. The units are West facing and the sunsets are amazing. The whole resort is beautiful. If I couldn't get a gulf front or a gulf view I would pick a pool view over an island view. If you get a high enough floor you probably could see the gulf in the distance.

Only you can say if the more expensive view is worth it to you. Island View is north facing and looks mainly at the adjacent Hilton with an angled view of the gulf (mainly from the balcony). Poolside higher looks over the pool at the gulf, the island to the south, and a string of tall buildings along the beach.

If it were me I would choose island view because in August my primary desire is to avoid sunlight streaming in the windows. But like @NJMOM2 we've always been fortunate enough to get Gulf Front at Crystal Shores.

Thank you everyone for your advice! It looks like the pool view higher floor is superior. Do they get any shade in early August (even later in the day) or is the sun overhead all day?

HIGH FLOOR ISLAND VIEW

We typically stay there in late October. We've had poolside view on fifth floor with West view and South view. The third through fifth floor poolside villas have decent views and require fewer points than the high floors. Although the view of the Gulf is better with the West view, the sun can be very strong in the late afternoon. We enjoy eating dinner on the balcony, so we actually prefer the South view. We typically stay two weeks and get Gulf front the first week and Poolside lower floor the second. This year we are trying the Island view for the second week and will post a report.
