Which we know from many examples, this isn't true. All HGVC points combine, whether retail and resale and if you are in Max, all those points are usable in Max. The resale points just won't raise your Max Tier level though. In essence, Max works just like Elite does.

Which, in its own way, is interesting. Based on @WORLD TRAVELER's post, it seems that the EVP gave misinformation during a possible Direct sale that actually dissuaded a customer from purchasing the contract. That's not the way salesweasel misinformation is intended to work. I guess this person was Peter principled to EVP :)

Cheers.

They probably have no idea how the system actually works and make a lot of assumptions.

I was merely agreeing with Alwysonvac's post. What she was stating was that initially when BHC came into being, HGVC points were able to be combined to make reservations in the BHC Program until years later when HGVC issued a programming update to remove this loophole. The same situation may play out with the HGVMax program based on the information I received from the Executive VP (EVP). I did inquire with the EVP about the option of using our existing Resale Weeks' Points in conjunction with the Direct Sales Week's Points to book reservations with Diamond Properties at the 6 month window and was advised that it would not be possible. I was advised only the Direct Sales purchase Week/points could be used to book the Diamond Properties at the 6 Month mark.

I was quite surprised afterwards to see reports of others being able to combine resale points with their direct purchased points to book Diamond Properties at the 6 month mark.

And they can combine them with trust points for HVC reservations but require the CSR to do it.

Obviously, the EVP doesn't know how the system actually works. They all create stories to help retail sales

Certainly possible but they would need to create separate buckets then. In the bHC case, HGV already had the separate buckets in place initially. In the case that @alwysonvac was referring to, HGV only closed a loophole because it was stated in the rules. In this case, it isn't stated that way in the rules. Of course, HGV could add new rules.

Unfortunately, in this instance, we didn't follow through on our purchase and had the entire purchase unwound based on the information received from the EVP. If the EVP had said we would have been able to combine our points to book Diamond Properties at the 6 month mark, then we would have kept our purchase to enjoy the additional properties that would have been available. Perhaps between the initial Roll Out when we were in the midst of the purchase in 2022 and now, HGVC made a change on how the program was to be implemented. The EVP that I spoke to in 2022 seemed very informed on all matters HGVC.

Well, it worked out for you then, IMO.

Oh, that's good news.
I'm glad the HGV Max rules are clearly documented. :)
