I saw a man on my tv that said it is a hoax. this man occupies the highest office in the land. these are not opinions.

So while admittedly to whom you refer has downplayed the seriousness of Coronavirus especially early on (which was a huge mistake IMHO), Snopes also states that to whom you refer did not in fact say coronavirus itself was a hoax. So we can observe that people hear what they want to hear, which is influenced by their own preconceived notions, value judgments, and by excerpts intentionally used by the media to reinforce certain narratives (and I put virtually ALL media outlets in this category these days unfortunately), which reinforces the original point that @Panina was making in point of fact.

This will be my one and only response to this politically slanted subtopic.

For every truth you find in an article, you will find the truth in another saying something different.

There is truth and then there's what some people want you to believe it is.
It's your responsibility to figure out the difference.
If you were told the virus was developed & stored in a Chinese vault by Obama, would you say, "that's one truth."
