Legend's Edge Gold went for $229.50 on ebay

Why isn't a plat season worth $3800?

A non beach timeshare in a beach city with high MF. Many people would be turned off in general. Marriott themselves had a hard time selling units at MLE. While they don't have lockoffs you can do a virtual lockoff through the Florida Club.

What does that mean? What's the Florida club?

What does that mean? What's the Florida club?

There is some information in the FAQ about the Florida Club, but it is a little dated. Basically when you own at one of the five Florida Club properties (some MGV weeks excluded) you can reserve at any of the other four properties at the six month mark. So if you own at MLE and want to stay at Ocean Pointe, you call Marriott at six months out and reserve the week. Obviously at the six month mark a lot of great weeks will be gone, but there is usually something left. You also avoid the II exchange fee with this option. If you own at a non lockoff resort, you can reserve in to a lock off resort and pay the lock off fee and reserve two weeks at the other resort. MGV, MPB, and MBP are the only resorts with lock offs in the Florida Club.

Several people here have used this to book great weeks at the other resorts. Those weeks can also be exchanged in II but you may have some diminished trade power since you can only deposit at most 6 months out and probably won't be able to reserve the truely prime weeks.

Thanks for the great info on the Florida Club!

So, the five Florida Club properties are Marriott's Legend's Edge, Marriott's Grand Villas (some units only), MPB (Marriott's Ocean Pointe), Marriott's Beach Place Towers, and one other? Which one has the lowest MF? Also, is there a fee for trading via the Florida club?

The other Florida Club resort is Villas at Doral outside of Miami. I think the lowest MF would probably be Grande Vista (you referred to this as Grand Villas) with Legends Edge not far behind.

There is no fee for reserving a different resort through the Florida Club, but you pay an extra $4 on your MF for this privilege.

Can Marriott discontinue the Florida Club if/when they go to a points-based or other internal trading system? I would think MLE wouldn't have as much clout in an internal system as OP would.

I do not know if Florida Club is in my deed or not. I would bet that it is NOT and that Marriott can cancel it at any time. I'll also bet you a dollar to a doughnut that MLE platinum will be worth the same as OP platinum, Grande Vista platinum and BeachPlace platinum in a points system.

You could be right, Terry. I think you know more about this than I do. My thinking was only based on my observation here at TUG that it doesn't seem like many Marriott owners visit Legend's Edge. I could be quite wrong about this, however.
