I almost bid on this as well. I want to get in to Marriott but haven't really decided what to buy.

I am really looking for a 2bedroom lockoff and ideally in Florida as that's where I live. I want to be able to actually use the timeshare itself with trading as a second option.

I also have look at the california ones as well as I think I would enjoy going there.

It is ashame you didn't bid on this one. Legend's Edge is part of the Florida club so you could have gotten 5 resorts for the price of 1.

Some of the Ebay prices lately have truly been shocking. There are some excellent buys out there, and although one realtor told me that he has seen a few bought back, people here have been getting some incredible deals through. Hope it was bought by someone here so we'll know if it gets through.

I was watching it too but as a non lock off low season unit with maintenance fees approaching $1000 it doesnt appeal to me.

Very very few. I'll bet that unless Marriott has a buyer lined up, ROFR won't be executed. MBP 2BR platinum passed for $6100. That's 20% of the $30K retail.

And what a great buy that was!

I didn't mean to imply that ROFR is much of an issue these days; I tend to agree that it seems like Marriott, like most businesses out there, is feeling the credit crunch and hesitant to incur debt by buying back units.

There has been much discussion about whether ROFR supports prices (a debate I am not trying to start here), but it appears clear that under the current economic climate and without ROFR preventing "fire sales," that prices have been in a downward spiral. It is a little disheartening that there are so many desperate sellers.

Marriott likely won't ROFR this one, they had a hard enough time selling these units the first time around. They won't want to bring more back in to inventory. They no longer have a sales office at MLE.

I also saw a Horizons Branson week (silver EOY) with a starting bid of $297 recently end with zero bids.

I wish I had of seen this MLE, I would have been tempted because it would alow me to reserve and lock off in to Ocean Pointe or Grande Vista.

I might have gone for the MLE if it had been an EOY. I'd also use to trade into Ocean Pointe, but I don't think we'd go every year. I just couldn't justify the MLE-EY, even at that price as we don't want to buy anything we won't be using.

I'm not surprised the Branson silver didn't generate any interest. They wanted the 2009 fees for 2010 usage. While that may be standard practice, it makes the price too high for that ownership, IMO.

I wasn't sure I was going to be able to use it either, but seemed like a really good deal especially with the florida club option. I had DH thinking about it, but he wouldn't let me pull the trigger. Probably better that way.

Can you deposit the Ocean Pointe or grande Vista weeks obtained through a Florifa Club reservation into II?

Thanks!

Yes. Trade power may be diminished some since you can only book through the Florida Club at 6 months out so then you can only deposit at most 6 months in advance.

Look at the current auction for a Platinum week- up in 20 minutes: Ebay auction

Wow- besides it going for $3800, what was even more interesting was the lack of interest over the last several hours except for the lone winning bidder.

Some here may also not appreciate posting a link to an auction not yet closed. Some here may have been bidding on that auction and not want the additional publicity. Closed auctions is one thing, but ones with time remaining shouldn't be publicized IMO

I watched it end at US $3,805.00. Since when can you no longer see who the buyer is? He seems to be a regular. Is it a TUGger? :) Is it a good price or not as I have no idea but it is a lot cheaper than buying it direct from the Marriott.

Sorry- I had looked at it the other way- in light of the previous post, I was thinking that it was a good opportunity that a fellow Tugger might appreciate being alerted to (I believe it was something like a little over $1600 at the time). But- you are right and I hope I haven't offended anyone.

It was me. But it was an accident! I clicked 19000 rather than 1900 and ended up winning for 3800 some. I already contacted and said it was a misclick . YIKES. I overpaid like crazy, huh???

What now? I know you can "not honor" the RE auction with eBay but would you do that? Automatic bidding may be the answer from now on. I used eSnipe once and it took care of emotion. I did not get our favorite timeshare but that was OK.

I too was willing to bid snipe it at about $2000, but not $3800! Ellen, obviously there was someone at $3700. Maybe the seller will offer a second chance.

P.S.
Ellen - You are not the winner. Someone named e***e is the winner.

I think there is something in place on Ebay that if you make a mistake you can notify them within an hour or something like that if you mis-wrote a bid.

If it makes you feel better, I once meant to write $400.00 and I left out the decimal point. Luckily, it went for $500 and I was ok with it.

Funny, I was also watching that auction. When it went to $3800, I decided I didn't need it that bad.
