After seeing your other adventures, I'd suspect JB!

Except that JB only sleeps on my side of the bed! We are now down to two cats, but when we had four they were all on my side at some point during the night -- Cliff sleeps cat free!

Have anyone tried yellow mustard to stop leg cramps? It does work.
Yes! It works great. I keep a few packets of mustard from fast food places by my bedside.

Wife gets them. Her doc suggested otc magnesium supplements. She also eats a banana a day for the potassium. It seems to work.

Stretching, keeping hydrated. Sometimes making sure you have adequate salt intake is beneficial. When the cramps occur, we use ice packs to relieve the cramp enough that we can stand up and gently stretch.

We went to CVS yesterday for magnesium tablets, but I said let's look for a "leg cramp combo" because I suspected there would be one. Cliff had to ask, but sure enough in with the Motrin and Tylenol, rather than the vitamins, were several bottles listed as for leg cramps. I encouraged him to get a PM version, and he started them last night. Assuming he is leg cramp free for the next month or so until the pills are gone, I think we'll have him finish the bottle and stop taking it to see whether or not the cramps return.

Do you eat it...or put it on your legs?
I eat it . One or two packs from a restaurant should do it. For me it start easing the pain in about 5 minutes. It work for me.

Or as Karen G, suggestive a tablespoon should do it. Good luck.

I woke up with cramps again night before last. Got up and ate a banana. Yesterday I heard a podcast by Dr. Gundry and he recommends a magnesium/potassium combo vitamin. https://drgundry.com/yes-no/ at 22:00. Also had a chat with my doctor and he reiterated to increase my salt. He had told me in my most recent appointment on 6/8 that I needed more salt and he didn't want to see my salt levels go down any further. He has said that besides salting my food with Celtic Sea Salt that I should have 1 tsp. a day in water.

I was wondering what was in mustard to help cramping. All I can find is that while it can stop a cramp it does prevent them.

Then I looked at tonic water. The active ingredient there is the quinine.

Last night no cramping. Today I made sure to take magnesium and tsp. of salt. Also ate a kiwi. Here's hoping.

RE: Run of the mill Charlie horses

Don`t overlook - Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is narrowing of the arteries that move blood to the outer parts of the body. The arteries narrow due to a buildup of fatty deposits (atherosclerosis). This leads to reduced blood flow. PAD can cause muscle pain, cramps, numbness, or tiredness in the legs during walking or exercise.
Supervised exercise therapy (SET) is a way to reduce symptoms of PAD

Hard to describe, more up and towards the jaw. Just test it next time when leg cramps hit. Hope it works
You can put a finger inside at this point and pinch. It works but mustard works better for me. I will make a point of eating mustard with a sandwich or crackers and cheese for next few days when I wake up with them. Just can’t bring myself to eat plain mustard from a pack.

This thread is comical with all the old wives' tales.

Supplement with magnesium and potassium and why not include some melatonin as well? Calm. Taken before bedtime will help with night cramps and will allow you to rest better throughout the night. Several easy forms to use.

BTW, too much potassium (bananas) can be bad for your kidneys.
If you're ingesting extra, you may want to watch your creatinine level.
