Hi, We've been with LOK for about 10 yrs. Since then they've changed owners several times. We heard they were under receivership and advised them that we were no longer paying maintenance fees as a result of this.

Last month a new company that bought them over called and said we owed 3 years maintenance fees even though they no longer rented out timeshares there.

How do we get out of this? We called Timeshare Exit but they said they were unable to deal with this company.

Any clues what to do? We heard there was a class act legal action against LOK.

Thanks,

Maybe read the bylaws and your contract to see if there is a violation of the bylaws or a breach of your contract. If there is no violation or breach I would think your on the hook for the debt. Just because the resort was sold doesn't mean you have a contract breach or bylaw violation.

Since your already three years behind, whats another year or two ? Maybe see what happens next and decide. Worse case scenario is collection and since the company is in Canada there are a few more hoops to jump for them to collect if your an American. I wonder if they even report to American credit report agencies ?
