Kings Land Waikoloa - What Do I Need To Know?

That maps makes that property look HUGE! I know it’s a big property already.

Beach 69 and Spencer beach are great spots, especially during the week (big local beach spots). You can rent snorkel gear at the Queens Market. Lava Lava would be a great spot for repeat vows. Have your friends staying at the Ocean Tower shuttle to YOU at Kings - better pool and nicer property. FYI - it's about a mile walk to the parking lot from the Ocean Tower. This is not a country club where you can drive your golf cart around - rental car is a must on the Big Island. We always hit Costco for the big stuff and supplement at the Queen's Market shop or go up the mountain to Waikoloa Village and grocery shop there.

The HGVC Website is saying parking is free for Kings Land resort. Has anyone been there recently because we are looking at a possible March trip to Hawaii and I want to take everything into consideration when picking our location. thanks!

We were there in July on an RCI exchange. There is no charge for parking at Kingsland, and when you visit the Hilton Waikoloa Village, if you give them your room key they will validate it so that parking there is free as well.

We have young kids, and they really enjoyed spending time at the Lagoon.

No charge for parking at KL, Kohala or Bay Club. There is parking at the hotel, so if you are staying at Ocean Tower and have a car you will pay $$$.

Always find it weird that OT despite being the most expensive property, still charging for Parking. Is OT much better than others?

It is on the ocean. The others are not. Also, the HWV property is very nice. But, no, not worth the premium (or the parking) to me.

Cheers.

OT charges for parking because it's part of a Hilton hotel complex that charges for parking.

The units are converted hotel rooms, they don't have the same condo feel as the others. It's also a lot of walking, even from the lobby to your room can be a trek.

The Hilton hotel property is not what it used to be - most shops are closed and the pool was under renovation the last time we were there. Plus, the walk from the parking lot to the OT property is about a mile. There is a 'train' that runs back and forth but the wait is usually longer that it takes to walk. I would not stay there, but to each their own.

We stayed in Ocean Tower back in 2021. We had a 1 bedroom unit, and really liked the way it was decorated.

I agree the walk to Ocean tower is long, but its doable. The main issue for us was the lack of on-property places to eat and drink. For such a large resort the should be options if you don't feel like leaving. Of course a lot was closed due to the pandemic in 2021, but the options were more limited than other hotels..

I would consider staying there again once the pools are finished. Though Kingsland remains our favorite place on the BI.

We just stayed at KL and wanted to come back to provide some thoughts and updates:

Groceries:

We went to Walmart right from the airport (6 days not really enough for CostCo). They are good for staples like milk, eggs and the like. But fresh is minimal to non-existent. We supplemented this with a visit to the KTA superstore in Waikoloa. Very nice selection of vegetables, fish and meat. Even though we got there after the butcher are was closed, the pre-packaged stuff was quite nice. And some really good Portuguese sausage for breakfast. They are more expensive than Walmart for staples, but they have so much more.

We've not been to the Foodland, but reviews I saw said that they had less selection and higher prices than KTA.

Last year we arrived on Thanksgiving and went to Safeway as Walmart was closed. This did seem a bit better than Walmart.

Gas:

There has been talk of a Texaco very close to the airport. It is there, but was not quite open (construction fencing). The next turn after the airport, so quite a bit closer than the Hele on Kanalani that we went to. Looks like it will be a very good option.

Resorts:

KL: They have a very nice coffee gathering for owners on Tuesday morning. Not a sales pitch, but good info about the island and resort update details. GM of KL/Bay Club/Kohala was there. And they gave one of the discount drink mugs just for being there. Well worth the time.

The morning yoga class was really nice and very well-attended.

HWV:

The pools are up and running. On a Thursday morning there were about 6 people in the whole pool area. Off-season is nice.

Cheers.
