WKORV, WKV, SDO, Hyatt High Sierra, Dolphin's Cove (Anaheim) NEW: 4 Lawa'i Beach Resort!
Good morning! We are at [Lawai Beach Resort, Poipu, Kauai] at the very end of the Ali'i building on the 3rd floor. The end of the building is nestled into a huge tree where every bird on Kauai roosts at night and starts squawking about 5:00 am when they are awakened by the roosters. 🐓🐦‍⬛:ROFLMAO:

2026?

And what resort. Awakening to bird song and the sound of the waves at 5 am wouldn't be such a bad thing....
Today, everyone in my county got woken up at 2 am by someone in our police department hitting the wrong button and sending out an "all is well" alert message in regards to an initial "stay in place" text that only the appropriate few got in the first place. *sigh*

Beautiful view!! Looks like a beautiful day! We just got done with our morning rain and the sun is out now. Enjoy!!🤙🏻

Oops - 2025 - I got 4 hours of sleep last night!

We've been at the Beach House at dusk when all the rose-ringed parakeets come back to roost. They can really make a racket!

Yes - basically the trees are full of parrots & mina birds having a turf war! The mina birds are bi-lingual now - they have learned to squawk like parrots! We are getting used to it.

Lawai Beach Resort - Poipu, Kauai

I don't have anything interesting to report from our first 2 days, because we arrived very late Friday night, and I was sick Sat. & Sun. But I'm on the mend today.

If you are like us, and like eating in, LBR has added a nice feature: Every night there is a food truck here with made from scratch food & good prices:
- Pizza Food Truck
- Mexican Food Truck
- Aunty Chela's pies, coffee, sandwiches & burritos.

We have also have walked 2+ miles every day so far.

Now, we are getting ready to watch the 49ers game, The SF Warriors game, and The Voice - life in the fast lane!

ALOHA! 🌴

Happy Thanksgiving from Kauai! We had a Thanksgiving dinner with family before we left home, so I don't even have to cook today! I don't hate it!

Nice size lanai and what a view! Thank for sharing. The only thing missing from the picture is a tropical drink in your hand.

Well.... I might have a wine spritzer in my hand. ;) Unfortunately, tropical drinks don't agree with my food allergies.

*I'm sitting inside instead of outside because the mosquitos have been vicious on the lanai.

Super exciting day so far:
- Walked 2 miles
- Had an enjoyable breakfast at Kalaheo Cafe & Coffee Co.
- Visited a local dive shop looking for a good deal on snorkel vests. We have never used them, and we are both good swimmers, but a 56 year old man died out in front of the resort a few days ago while snorkeling, so we think it's time.
- Now we're supervising the ocean waves from our timeshare - there is supposed to be a big swell & big waves coming in.

That's it! That's our exciting day! ;)

We had breakfast there when my wife bought her new Ukulele at Kalaheo Music. They were closing the shop when we bought hers. They only had about ten left to choose from.

We used a snorkel vest when we snorkel. The ocean is a different beast so we played it safe.

Make sure to pace yourselves. Lol 🤙🏻

Midnight Bear Breads has moved from Hanapepe to Lawai - just a short distance from the Poipu resorts. It is located right between 7-11 & the Lawai Post Office. They moved from Hanapepe last Wed, and they have sold out every day before noon since then. Within a few days you will be able to order ahead so you don't miss out. Next week, they are also going to start offering sandwiches, etc. We got a beautiful loaf of sourdough bread from them, today.

We always loved Midnight Bear. We'll have to check out the new location next time. 🤙🏻

- We had lunch at Holoholo Grill & enjoyed it.

- Today we drove up to Waimea Canyon with a picnic lunch, and enjoyed lunch in the park.

- As you may know, they are charging for visiting the canyon look-outs now. In each look-out parking lot there is a machine to purchase a tag for your dashboard: $10 per car + $5 per person. They accept both credit cards & cash. The machines are not at the entrance to the parking lots, they are at the far side of the parking lot at the beginning of the path to the look-out. One tag is good for your whole visit.

- There are also monitors wearing yellow vests monitoring the machines & parking lots. We did see one of them walking through the parking lot and checking for tags, and he appeared to give one of the a cars a ticket.

- Only 2 of the 4 look-outs were open due to road repairs, and it was hazy, so we decided not to stop at the 2 open look-outs. There was repaving work in progress on the first road up to the canyon.

A funny thing happened this afternoon: we were sitting out by the pool, and a little Gecko seemed to be sneaking up on us. Finally, it made a mad dash toward my husband and snatched a fly right off his foot! :ROFLMAO:

Sunday morning we hung out at the beach just past the Sheraton Kauai Resort: There is a sandy beach with easy water entry, a nice grassy area, restrooms, shade, and free public parking. We also saw our first monk seal on this trip. Then we went to the outdoor cafe at Living Foods for lunch.

The beach past the Kauai Sheraton had several bouncy houses and lots of kids enjoying their time together during our last trip. We pulled over and watched the kids play for a while.
