Hi all.

Long time lurker, but I think this is only my second post ever.

Ok, so I'm looking to sell one of my timeshares (I know, I know, - who isn't) and I found the youtube video below. I don't know who the "Timeshare Referee" is, and the video is brand new... (that worries me) but I wonder how viable you think his tips are to sell a timeshare. Or if the Timeshare Referee is a moderator here, maybe he can directly respond?

Side Note: We are fine with keeping our Wyndham, but looking to hopefully sell our Westin prior to this years mfees. If we can't, we'll take another years vacations with it.

Just wanted the forums thoughts on this video before I took time on the tactics he outlines.

Tip 1 is ok, come to grips with what its truly worth.

Tip 2 is way off base, who even reads newspapers any more? I doubt if new buyers at the resort are going to scan the local newspaper, they will search the internet.

Get a listing going for your Westin on TUG Marketplace, that is a much better use of $15 than a local newspaper.

Don't even bother watching any more of this guy if he's moving on to Timeshare exit solutions, those are ripoffs, you can advertise it yourself.

If the timeshare is truly "free" at best why didn't this "ref" suggest sweetening the pot by paying the buyer $1,000 at closing which would have a good likelihood of being successful?

The reason is found in the teaser for the next video, timeshare exit options. Suggesting that the seller add $1,000 as an incentive would hurt their chances at collecting thousands of dollars from the seller to take the timeshare off their hands, which is the real motive here.

Just my opinion.

His tip is to trick you to spend money you shouldn't. The best tip are here on tug.

The video is simply a commericial for this "rescue company" - their next video will be all about how they can help you - FOR A FEE.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Westin Desert Willow has no resale value, because the Staroptions/Starpoints will not transfer to the new owner.

Your best bet is to give it away - if it's paid off. If you are still making payment, you will not be able to give it away until it is paid off.
