Is Club Open Season Rental very useful?

They have both at Hokulani. And bidet!

I have a mixed feeling about a bidet. We have one at home with heated seat and water... But I tend not to use it. On the other hand, the wife loves it.

I have no mixed feelings about our bidet whatsoever. My wife loves it. End of story.

I am kinda the opposite. We stayed in Lagoon Tower and at the MVC Waikiki and both had a bidet. I used it and thought it was okay. My wife didn't like it. The main issue both of us have though is that when it gets used, it smells like a campground toilet. Especially when the drier is running. I don't know if they don't get cleaned well enough or what it is, but it is pretty bad.

I will say that ours, at our house, doesn't smell that way. It is a regular toilet/bidet combo so not the stand alone bidet that sits next to the toilet. In my youth and when I first saw one, I thought it was for rinsing your feet when coming from the beach....so that is how I used it on that trip...:)

Ours is a bit fancy in that it has hot water, heated seat, the lid automatically opens when you walk up to it and you push a button on the controller on the wall to raise the seat, has a night light inside which is great for those night trips, and a built in dryer....I will say though, it is nice for cold winter nights...:)

And has spoiled me. Now I walk up to a normal toilet and expect them to automatically raise the lid....how dare they expect me to bend over and lift it on my own ...:)

This rogue made me jump off immediately - they should put a red warning sign on every Bidet installed.

You need to get with the program. We have one also at our house.
Funny story about Hokulani: We had recently remodeled 2 baths when we first stayed at Hokulani. We walked into the room. I walked into the bathrm and it looked almost exactly like our new master-bathrm. Almost exact. All that were missing were the bath water coming from the ceiling, the spycam in the mirror and the toilet behind a closing door. Other than that, almost exact. My wife swears she never saw pics of that bath before she designed ours. I'm still :ponder:

I love this thread. Yes, the bathtub is stupid, but it looks good and we just use it (and all HGVC tubs) to hang our swim trunks and beach towels to dry. Also a bidet user at home. Thank you, and happy Friday!

Shush ;)

Hokulani is becoming my favorite Waikiki spot over HHV. Last visit we had a room looking over DeRussy and could even see the Friday night fireworks. Wife loves the tub.

What is the best room you can have in Orlando?

I have to admit though I prefer Marriott in general, seeing what Elara can offer made me wonder what the top Hilton room could offer in Orlando.

This is ancient history (or at least pre-2010) but we very much liked Tuscany and thought it *much* nicer than Marriott’s Grande Vista.

Nothing as nice as a bHC location (or Marriott’s Lakeshore Reserve for that matter). But quite reasonable.

I think Parc Soleil penthouses are the best for Orlando but we also enjoy Tuscany.

all of the Hiltons are nice in Waikiki but what are the best timeshares in terms of parking in Waikiki? I pretty much ignore the Hilton Waikiki stuff now due to the 50 plus daily parking. I’drather go somewhere on Big Island, Kauai, or Maui with no parking costs.

Parking was $69 at HHV when we were there. We instead parked at the Hale Koa garage. It works best if you are staying for four or more nights.

We use the tubs for detox soaks and to relieve stress and muscle aches. We love them. And DW and I can soak together.
We completely love bathtubs and always use them on vacation. The issue is that the faucet appears to release water from the ceiling to an unfortunate location if you’re in the tub.

OS: We use OS frequently for last minute travel. Last year we used it 5 times for stays on Maui, Oahu, and Orlando. Yesterday, I booked a 2 night stay at the Grand Islander for late August over a weekend. I like OS because we can book only 2 nights. For us that comes in handy often. I have tentative plans to use it for Vegas in September. I always have a back up plan - book a regular hotel. So far I have always been lucky. As mentioned previously in the thread, I would not buy HGVC just for the OS benefit.

Japanese toilets: If you are ever flying through HNL go to the AA club which is shared with JAL on the second floor. Before you enter the club are restrooms (no club membership needed) with Japanese toilets. I go out of my way to use those bathrooms because they are the best. At home they are a must.

Home bathrooms: The transformation of primary bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms from the utilitarian designs of the 70s to today's luxurious spaces is remarkable to me. I remember small bathrooms that today most people would consider too small for a closet. Bedrooms have evolved into spacious retreats with high ceilings, large windows, and integrated smart technology (sometimes I struggle too uch tech) lol Closets are now expansive walk-ins with custom shelving, motion-sensor lighting, a hidden cedar closet and climate control. Bathrooms have become spa-like havens, featuring steam showers (love this feature), bidet toilets (a must) , hidden TVs (rarely use), and jetted tubs. Additional innovations I love and couldn't live without include separate water closets for privacy and heated floors and towel racks (the best). My frugal engineering educated father finds it wasteful.

I think that is all the topics on this thread. Fun reading.

Great to hear it’s useful for Hawaii! The OS price is somewhat 50% off the rack price from booking directly from Hilton.com. I’m curious if it’s the same inventory, meaning if you could find availability on Hilton.com, you are likely able to book OS. Also do you have to pay resort fees and other junk fees, such as cleaning fee as a 2-night stay etc?

In Hawaii they do get you for a state tax, but it is minimal. Hawaii has some of the worst taxes on tourists and they keep going up. Thank goodness there are no other annoying 'junk' fees.

While I've had luck in Hawaii, my OS stays are for a few days here or a few days there. And, I'm very flexible. I have not tried to get an OS week or more. Not sure how that would work out. I believe most of the OS is small pieces of inventory left over.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I’m waiting for our first HGVC deed to record (kings land, sent for recording today) so I’m reading up about OS. If our deed is EOY can we still use OS if something works out? I could see us using it in Vegas for a weekend given our location

Yes. That is why you pay club dues every year, not just EOY, it lets you use the HGVC system plus you can borrow from the next year in years when you don't have points.
