Interval International - Depositing 155,000 Vistana Westin Nanea Points

I have 155,00 unrestricted points that expire at the end of this year. Called Vistana about options and then said I can deposit them into Interval International and have 2 more years to use them. How does that work exactly? Does the 155k convert directly so I’ll have 155k “Interval Points”?

Searching the Interval site I see some resorts available for 60k points, if I transfer and book will that leave me with 95k points remaining that can be used in the future?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Essentially all you are doing is moving your 155K home options from Vistana to Interval without any change in value. They will remain valid there through the end of Dec 2024. Every time you do an exchange in II, they will pull the options needed from that balance until it's depleted. It's up to you to keep track of that 155K and how you use it because II doesn't have a place where you can go and see how much of that balance remains (or else I don't know about it if such a place exists).

And that's the problem. If they are 1 to 1 (and my experience is they are), you exchange points from a nice club like Westin Ocean Villas on Maui or the Tahoe Ridge Resort in South Lake Tahoe for Interval's crappy resorts that they laughingly call Platinum or something and get so much less.

So please pick your exchanges carefully. I like to go to Trip Advisor for an independent check on the resort.

I agree, so be selective in which resorts you choose to request with your deposit since you have two years to fulfill your request. You will be high up in the queue if you request an exchange for 2024. However, depending on which resorts you request with your deposit and the dates you want, you still have a good chance of success even if you make a request for 2023.

When I had to deposit a 1BR from KORV in 2021, I was successful in "exchanging back" into a Kaanapali Westin and by using the upgrade opportunity, I scored a 2BR villa at Nanea for the summer of 2023! If you don't want to go to Hawaii twice in one year, you can always use your Home Options to make a reservation which you can rent out, and then use your I.I. exchange for your stay on Maui. On the other hand, if you want to experience other resorts, as Herbalwise mentioned, do your research and request the "elite" resorts with your deposit. Good luck with your exchange! CJ

I own at Westin St. John which is home options - you don’t deposit a week, you deposit options - and trade using options.

You can make as many exchanges as you have points.
interval and Vistana do NOT keep track of these points for you so you need to keep a running list.
points from different years will combine in your II account.
They will use the oldest points first.

I will post an example of how your trade would look.

Is there any way to see how many points are held in deposit from the Interval site?

No there is not, not on Vistana or II.
you have to keep track yourself - year of deposit, number of points, points used/amount left and expiration date
