this might be the first time ive seen a number of actual tours/presentations quoted before!

The article cites Marriott provided 98,000 "tours" in the first quarter of 2025.

so ~400k sales presentations/owner updates a year for marriott alone? wild.

The big timeshare corps do disclose these numbers in their quarterly earning releases. I always find VPG to be an interesting stat. Or how much they make off of each tour (on average).

do they usually divulge annual tours/presentation counts?

id be fascinated to see a chart of those numbers across the board for 2024.

They provide quarterly numbers. You can go back through their earnings releases on their website and capture those numbers to chart them. I haven't seen them charted anywhere. It would be easy enough to get the last few years of data since they always compare to the same quarter a year prior. There may be a way to back in to the number of tours that purchase based on contract sales and VPG.

Here's the data from Wyndham (T&L) for Q1 2025 - they disclose gross VOI sales, and VPG in dollars and Tours in thousands - with YoY quarterly comparison:

Here's the full data for both 2024 and 2023 from Wyndham/T&L. So for all of 2024 - Wyndham had 716k tours with average VPG of $3094.00.

so marriott extrapolates to 400000 (rounding for math purposes) tours per year
wyndham 716000

id like to see others if anyone has access to those! this is fascinating!

wyndham roughly half that?

Marriott averages about 100,000 tours per quarter. Wyndham looks to be about 700,000 per year.

Realize that Marriott numbers also include tours of Hyatt Vacation Club/Welk.

And I’d assume T&L tours include Worldmark, Wyndham, Shell, etc.

Wow - and most of those tours bring in customers. I can't even imagine the money they rake in.

The best source (and easiest to find) is each company's Form 10-K. Readily accessible for every publicly-trades corporation. Send me a PM if you need assistance.

They are stone cold printing money. Even more of a reason to give them the hard pass AND take their freebies
I guess I should feel less guilty taking the incentives lol. Though TBH I still don't love doing it, I guess I can just be an up front "waste of time" and proud lol.

i dont believe that most of the tours result in a sale.

do you happen to have one available? welcome to email it to me!

The screenshots I posted above are from the 10Q and 10K. For any publicly held company just search for the company name and “investor relations” and you will find all of the required filing statements. Here’s the link for T&L:

All of the PDFs under Latest Annual Filings section are the 10K documents.

id personally be shocked if the overall conversion rate was over 25%.... though no doubt some salespeople are better than others.

33% sounds extremely high.

I do a small write up on HGVC‘s quarterly investors report and they always give those numbers. I was (and still am) blown away by the amount of tours they give. In the 1st quarter of 2025 the had 175,000 total tours. That’s actually down from the same quarter in 2024. They are being more being choosy with the tours. It seems to be working as their VPG was up to $4100.

Between HGVC, former Embarc, HVC/DRI and BlueGreen, they have over 725,000 members in their systems. Those 175,000 tours were for all 4 systems. Even if they average $100 per incentive for tours (that’s probably on the low end), they pay $17,500,000 in Q1 alone. Then again they had $721,000,000 in contract sales during that time.

Wow that beats out T&L with 153k tours and $521m in VOI contract sales in Q1 2025. HGVC may actually now be the largest global timeshare company these days, a moniker Wyndham/T&L has held for many years now.

The VOI was considerably lower, about $365 million. We aren’t sure what the difference is, but it could be places like the South Carolina resorts that are owned by a third party that make up the difference. They do a ton of sales and snap up almost everything via ROFR.
