Our parents transferred 2 weeks at Holiday Inn Club Vacations (HICV) Orange Lake along with 70,000 points to my wife and I. The weeks are fixed at Orange Lake but the points are with HICV. They are suggesting that we transfer the weeks and 70,000 points all to HICV points. Is this a wise thing to do?

If we don't convert to HICV points, we were told we'll have limited use of the 70,000 points, as they can only be used at Orange Lake and also they cannot be transferred to RCI.

We are first time owners, but have travelled with our parents on several occasions. Weeks & points are fully paid.

I am confused. Did they buy 70,000 trust points and never convert their Orange Lake weeks to points or was it all in points and the family transfer was done incorrectly so that the converted weeks switched back to points? Or is everything in points but because you got them as a transfer the sales agent is trying to make you feel like you aren't a real HICV owner?

When you log into your account, how many points does it say you get annually? If it only shows the 70,000 then ask your parents if that is what they had or if they had points for their weeks.

Thanks for your reply. Our parents converted the 2 weeks that they bought over 25 years to points and bought the 70,000 points at the time of conversion. When they did the quit claim deed and transferred the 2 weeks and points to us, the 2 weeks became fixed Orange Lake weeks again. We are not able to get a HICV account until we transfer the weeks over to points. We received 2 weeks for 2024, 2 weeks for 2025 and banked them at RCI, but have no access to the 70,00 points as yet. We are trying to decide whether or not to transfer ALL to points.

If they had worked with HICV a direct family transfer should not have lost any of the benefits and wouldn't have costed you anything. It may not be too late because you already banked the weeks into rci. Don't talk to the sales department. Their only solution would be a $$$ purchase. Contact owner services and see if they can do anything to get you the benefits that you are entitled to. It may be too late because it sounds like they didn't work with HICV to ensure that the properties were transferred to you as a family member but I would start there to see if there is anything that can be done before considering whether to pay.

Did you get this resolved? I'm about to do the same thing and I was told that I will get a new contract # and then will have to "opt in" to the club membership under the new contract # to remain points. This is a deceased owner w/o a will and transferring to son and we just completed the probate for the FL property. We also did an affadavit of heirship for TX propery and now they're saying they no longer accept these and have to do probate there too.
