For Surf and Ocean Club?About the price of Getaways, I just realized the price for Getaways for Marriott's Aruba Resorts doubled from last year. I have a spreadsheet where I track the Getaways I see for properties I am interested in since August 2023 and I took a look based on the discussion here and saw the a 1 BR was about $847-$1247 last year for June check-in and this year it is a whopping $2047. I haven't noticed a significant increase from last year for other properties but smaller increases in the $50-$100 range. I wonder if anyone else has noticed increases.
Getaways are priced more like hotels these days with dynamic pricing schemes. This is the top part of the insert, when you proceed through the Getaway process and click the Terms and conditions like that is above the check box on the 2nd page:Perhaps you could post the specific wording. Those terms and conditions cover a lot of different things and aren't just Getaway sepcific.
usually when the price is that high its because someone has done a cruise exchange or other non-standard transaction and II is trying to recover the costs. Yes there seem to be more of them and for Aruba.About the price of Getaways, I just realized the price for Getaways for Marriott's Aruba Resorts doubled from last year. This seems to be much of the II Buyer's Guide for Abound Members. It doesn't look like it really has anything to do with getaway confirmations specifically. This is the top part of the insert, when you proceed through the Getaway process and click the Terms and conditions like that is above the check box on the 2nd page:

Ok, having read the entire Buyer's Guide ad nauseum yesterday (my head still hurts), this section you quoted only applies to exchanges and I believe this has always been the policy for a close-in cancellation. Getaways and AC fall under the Special Exchange Procedures category in the BG which still says everything is final, non-refundable, non-changeable, same as before. This is the top part of the insert, when you proceed through the Getaway process and click the Terms and conditions like that is above the check box on the 2nd page:

I don't remember the last time the fee was increased for Marriott to Marriott exchanges. Though I think it was maybe 2019 or before. It's been a long run at only $164.I’m not sure if anyone noticed but the exchange fee for Marriott to Marriott exchanges is now 199. I believe it was just 164 previously so that’s quite the bump.
OK, thanks, but is the 13 days to 24hrs cancellation term new or has it always been there? Sorry if I have missed it previously, but I thought it was 59days to 24hrs and you got a replacement week that had a reservation window of 59 days. This seems to be much of the II Buyer's Guide for Abound Members. II increased their regular exchange fee in January 2022 from $209 to $219. So it seems they changed the Marriott to Marriott fee at the same time. Though it only went up by five bucks. It was $159 until early 2022 (or late 2021) when it was increased to $164
I made an exchange on 2/18/22 that was $164 that's the first one I can find at that price. All the ones I have for 2021 were $159.
Whoof - granted they're selling Abound now, but for resale that nixes their value even more - Wyndham exchanges in their system is free, and HGVC is $79 maybe(Which, TBH, is also a money grab and should be cheaper)?I don't remember the last time the fee was increased for Marriott to Marriott exchanges. Marriott to Marriott exchanges within their points system are free too. Marriott is different than HGVC or Wyndham in that Marriott still has a weeks based exchnage component.Whoof - granted they're selling Abound now, but for resale that nixes their value even more - Wyndham exchanges in their system is free, and HGVC is $79 maybe(Which, TBH, is also a money grab and should be cheaper)?
Both! The Getaways for both are priced the same. For Surf and Ocean Club?
Oh, absolutely. Even off-season (summer) Palm Desert MVC 1 BR full kitchen units have gone up from $499 to $799 since just two years ago. I used to consider them a bargain; not so much anymore. Though I'm sure the MFs have also gone up substantially as well (I haven't checked lately).About the price of Getaways, I just realized the price for Getaways for Marriott's Aruba Resorts doubled from last year. My AC's don't pull many Marriott's if at all...Getaways are priced more like hotels these days with dynamic pricing schemes. Did you try AC?
That's an interesting theory!usually when the price is that high its because someone has done a cruise exchange or other non-standard transaction and II is trying to recover the costs. Yes there seem to be more of them and for Aruba.
The getaways I've been tracking in Europe are in the same ball-park as usual.

That seems to have changed since the most recent random one was released, Grand Vista and Harbour lake have been available with the random one and also the MVC in France at short notice this month. The free ACs they give out like candy almost never pull Marriott. But the ones you get for the deposit promos can sometimes find some Marriott weeks particularly in low demand resorts/seasons.
I think this is more about the demand and excess inventory than a change in the AC. Just more leftover stuff that II is trying to find a way to unload. That seems to have changed since the most recent random one was released, Grand Vista and Harbour lake have been available with the random one and also the MVC in France at short notice this month.
Mine was a hopeful post, that things may have improved......I've learned to no longer use absolute terms. Thus "almost never" used by @jwalk03 covers those certain exceptions.
