Have you looked at the 2024 fees for HGVC Legacy Members (specifically guest certificates)?

I tested the GC and it didn't charge me so I think it is a typo for EP. I sent HGV a message about it.

Are there any downsides to Max, if you didn't have Elite status before?

1. At 6-mos. out, you'll likely book only the dregs for DRI (HVC) & B/G resorts.
B. Cost of acquisition.

what I mean is, compared to not having it? Like if it were free, is there any reason you would refuse it? I would never pay for it.

The main drawback that comes to mind is that you can only raise your Max Tier level with retail purchases, if that is desired. Other than that, if you are Elite Premier, there are perks that you can lose. Overall, if you are not worried about EP benefits or Tier levels, then it expands the properties, free reservations, free guest certs (based on your tier level), and other travel/program perks that Legacy does not have.

Club dues are more expensive ($299) vs. ($209) but with HgvMax Club due are also additional benefits.

for folks who are not EP, if you make 2 or more reservations, then it covers the extra $90.

That is true....but the question was....
We are getting perilously close to determining what HGVMax is truly worth to the discerning owner.

The deal breaker for me is the the retail purchase requirement but if they came to me and said that we could have Centum for free, I would probably do it. It doesn't have unlimited free guest certs like EP does but there are other interesting benefits like the loyalty search requests and the Legacy program to create sub-accounts. I would use those. The other travel perks are meh.... But I am sure that we would use DRI properties in Europe so that would be a nice option.

Bumping an old thread, but I'm finally showing up correctly in their system after the latest upgrade. Took a really long time!

Doesn't Max have every other year conversion to Honors instead of every year with Legacy HGVC?

I also don't like the limited Guest Certs.

Save more with uncapped elite OS discount than a Max OS credit.

I spoke too soon. I’m back in max and lost my EP again. It looks like a change was reverted last night.

I’m EP now. Finally back to normal
Hopefully, it will stay. I know others that have struggled... They get it changed back to EP and then later, it goes back to Max

Oops...I should have read this post before responding. That is the same issue others have had. That is what happens to them. It seems to be like a system refresh each night and they get put back

This has me nervous as I am currently legacy Elite Premier but have another resale deed going through closing… definitely don’t want to be mysteriously placed in Max.

What are the major differences between legacy elite vs. max elite?
There isn't Max Elite. Elite is a legacy and then there are Max tiers. The elite tiers are equivalent to their respective Max Tier with a few exceptions. EP has unlimited free guest certs but the Max tiers are limited by tier, not unlimited. Max tiers get OS credits compared to EP that gets a 30% discount. Depending on the amount of OS used, the 30% could be a bigger savings. Both have no reservation fees but Max is a higher club fee. EP basically doesn't pay fees for anything, converting to HH, saving, etc., which I don't think the Max Tiers offer. Probably other differences that I am missing.

Yeah. I just have to call in, which makes walking/changing a reservation a pain in the rear. I am currently trying to get two weeks in a 3 BR over Christmas at Kingsland...
