Hyatt Naming confusion - coconut plantation, or bonita springs, or coconut point?

He, as my post indicates, said fully cross-book. I expect there to be a buyin on both sides as there was in Hilton/Diamond but obviously hope not.

That would be spectacularly bad for HRC owners. Any sort of buy-in would be lop sided in favor of Welk. I wouldn't mind having access to Santa Fe, but not enough to hand Marriott more money. There will be some interest in Tahoe as well. But the rest are so easy to trade into via II, why bother?

I could see that happening for HPP owners. MVW does not tend to give anything away and needs to stock HPP with advantages (which right now are few). The question is if those who pay on the Welk side would also get access to HRC inventory in addition to HPP inventory.

It was actually ILG that cooked up the mess with HPP and not ginving something away for free. WHen Marriott first rolled out their Destinations Points program in 2010 there was a fee for weeks based owners to enroll. WHen they introduced Abound last year when they brought in the Westin and Sheraton Vacation Club properties, enrollment was free and automatic for those Vistana owners. I could see them doing the same with Welk/Hyatt and fixing the mess that ILG made by limiting Hyatt owners from having access to HPP. That said, don't legacy HRC owners have the ability to book portfolio inventory once they are in the club booking window (is that 6 months?). All said, I think if and when MVW rolls out some combined program to bring Welk into the mix, they will simply allow cross booking for no additional fee like they have with Vistana and Marriott. I think they learned they need the critical mass to make things like this work and the best way to get critital mass is to offer the option for no additional cost. Will legacy Hyatt weeks be folded in too? We will have to wait and see.

I have a friend who owns a lot of Welk points. She went to an update in Palm Springs about a year and a half ago and came back telling me that soon she would be able to use her points in Hyatt properties. She wanted to know all about the various Hyatt timeshares. At that point I was not sure what was going to happen but I told her I didn't think that would happen without her having to pay a hefty sum. We'll see...

I own the timeshares previously known as Hyatt Residence Club at Carmel and Pinon Pointe (does this remind you of some singers and rappers?). Just went to log on and when I type hyattresidenceclub.com it takes me to Hyatt Vacation Club. Won't let me log in with my previous info. And of course, Hyatt being Hyatt, reps are not available on the west coast past 2:00pm on Saturdays. THAT part hasn't changed. I would like to access Santa Fe - maybe Palm Springs (actually Cathedral City) - but Escondido is to San Diego almost as Ventura is to Los Angeles, though I hear it's nice if you play golf. That combined with expected large rises in maintenance fees (since it is owned by Marriott...fill in the initials) makes me plan to get out now! I am happily converting over to RCI points/Grandview which gets me Palm Desert, Santa Fe, San Diego, New York, Vail, Washington DC, and whatever Club Wyndham/Worldmark/Shell or Hilton/Diamond has to offer. Airbnb or VRBO for the rest. Not a golfer so many Marriotts or other high end resorts don't interest me.

As an aside, I really was attracted by the option of going to Aspen for summer music/arts festival. Managed to get a 10 day reservation in a studio during festival. Portfolio points have no extra charges I hear. As an owner of former HRC I got hit with $40/day "resort fees", $40/day parking (closest parking otherwise a 10 mile bus ride away), tax on those charges plus a $60 or so fee for not being a Portfolio (what initials are those now?) owner, with tax. And a midweek cleaning fee. Over $1000 extra.

I'm done. The studio, btw, was lovely but the kitchenette was basically useless and since I was traveling alone for that part of the trip, I expected to mostly eat indoors. At least there was a microwave, which I needed a stepladder to reach as well as a flashlight to read. And I'm not short.

This is the first I’m hearing of this. If you booked this through the Hyatt site, not II or something else, you should not have paid anything more than the $60 HPP fee. Also, it should have included daily house keeping. When was this? How did you book it?
