Hyatt Kaanapali

Can anyone tell me if it would be possible to trade into HKB with a deed valued at less the 2200 points? I’ve read the Hyatt program rules and am pretty familiar with how it works but you never know all the little details until you actually own. I know you can borrow points from the future year as long as you pre pay maintenance. So could you do that to top up say an 1880 deed and still place an 18 month advanced request? Or are there restrictions on borrowed points like there are on saved points?

You can trade into a 1BR for 1450 points. The 1BR units are very nice. Half of them face the ocean and the other half face the mountains. You would be most likely to get a mountain view. But HKB in a 1BR facing the mountains would still be very nice, imo. Regarding borrowing points from next year to "top up" your points to 2200 (or any number above your 1880 annual points), I believe you can only do so for a reservation occurring within the next 60 days, which wouldn't make it easy to book HRC.

You can also get 4 midweek days in a 2 bedroom. We have 2 nights in a 3 bedroom that popped up to add to our 1 bedroom week. Inventory changes often, especially on Saturday morning

$3800 is a lot. And I agree, it is highly unlikely you will ever see Hyatt Kaanapali on Interval. But what you CAN do is purchase a deeded week in another Hyatt property (Pinon Pointe in Sedona is a popular one because the MFs are much lower, about $1650). Owning a diamond week at a Hyatt will give you 2200 points to play with so you can use those to exchange into Hyatt Kaanapali through the internal Hyatt exchange site. Hyatt Kaanapali has traditionally been a difficult exchange, but I think it can be had if you are willing to cast a large net my submitting a waitlist request 18 months in advance. For example, if you are flexible, you might put in a request for any 2BR (or 1BR if you are willing to accept no ocean view) from September to December. It's likely that something will come up and you will get a reservation long enough in advance to plan your travel. Lately (since the Lahaina fires) Hyatt Kaanapali has had more ready availability. For example, there are probably 12 2BR weeks that can be reserved in Oct, Nov, and Dec. This is very unusual, and my guess is that won't continue to be the norm, but it's what's going on now.
Good luck with that. I check the availability on a regular basis. I've attempted to use the wait list (never successfully). If there is even availability of a 7-night stay for any dates of the year (most times I check, there isn't), there may be one or two at the six-month mark, and never for high demand times of the year.

Yep. You gotta pay to play if you want to go to Maui. And if the rumors are true that the Lahaina Harbor will open up this Summer, watch out.

What kind of coffee makers are in the villas at this property? K-cup style Keurig or Mr Coffee drip style. Thanks
