Will be interesting to see 1) What charges Chad is ultimately going to wind up with 2) If Lori's charges are upgraded 3) How LE knew exactly where to dig on that property.
It isn't hard to discern recently disturbed soil, and a relative has said that she knew where the kids were and feared for her life if she told. This is a long way from over.

Ah, I didn't know that about the relative. Thanks!

Chillingly close to locales that I am quite familiar with.

@Passepartout Mothers rarely get sentenced to death for the murder of their own children so I don't see that happening.
60 minutes did a piece on mother’s whose husbands or boy friends abused their children, getting a longer sentence than the man who beat the children because they did not stop it.

@Passepartout Do you know more about the relative that pointed to LE as to where the bodies were located on the property? I have been looking through the news stories on this & cannot find that anywhere.

It's so hard to wrap my head around someone taking someone else's life, let alone, parents killing their own children. Too many sick people in the world. So sad.

I don't. My wife said that to me last night when we saw the aerial views of where they were digging. I'll ask her where she got that. Stay tuned.

I think it was just speculation. As in: 'Oh look- They know exactly where to dig! Someone must've told them." Sorry for the confusion. There is no evidence as far as I know. As I said then, recently disturbed soil isn't hard to spot. Especially so in that area that had been covered with snow and freezing temps the VAST majority of the time from when the kids were last seen until fairly recently.

I was hoping they would be found alive. Worst possible outcome.

Scott Reisch said that the investigators immediately went to the dig site on Chad Daybell's property. He thinks that they knew exactly where to dig, hence someone tipped them. Speculating that Lori Vallow has turned on Chad and tipped the police. We shall see.

I think they found the little boy's body and his big sister likely "fell" into a caldera in Yellowstone where she was last seen. So sad. It's almost always bad when Idaho makes the national news :(.

As terrible as that is...Thinking about that child somehow falling into a caldera was an even worse thought. They should show these people no mercy if they are as guilty as they seem.
Ummm, not to put a too fine a point on it, but calderas are kinda HUGE.

You are correct....I am not sure that the article characterized it correctly....I am not sure how falling into a caldera at yellowstone would kill someone. When you are there you do not really see that you are in a caldera... it's not like on the big island where you see the caldera and falling in would kill you. I can see someone dying by falling into a hot spring or off a cliff.

I have gotten up to speed on the latest developments....

Yesterday the arrest affidavit was released for Chad Daybell. Lots of interesting things in that affidavit . Most notably: Most people closely following this case thought someone "turned on" Chad Daybell and told the police that the bodies were on his property b/c the police activity on his property was sudden & the police knew exactly where to go to dig. We have now learned that it was cell phone data from Alex Cox (Lori V's brother) that tipped the police.

Some more details:

  • Lori V told various people that her kids (Tylee & JJ ) had become zombies. She also belonged to a church, with Chad Daybell, that believes in the idea of zombies and that they must be gotten rid of.
  • Alex Cox's cell phone indicates that he was with Lori & Tylee (Lori's daughter) on their trip to Yellowstone. This was the last time Tylee was known to be alive.
  • Alex's cell phone over the next few days shows his movements being at 1) Lori's apartment in the middle of the night 2) On Chad Daybell's property. Most notably, the cell phone data is so accurate that it shows exactly where he was on Daybell's property (where the bodies were found). This is interesting as many of us who follow this case thought someone "turned on" Chad Daybell as the police knew exactly where to go and dig and it appears as if the cell phone had that information.
  • Chad Daybell's suspicious behavior also revealed: Tells his wife (who is alive at this time) via text that he killed a raccoon in the middle of the day & was going to bury it on a pet cemetery on their property (which eventually is where the kids bodies were found). Additionally , he was also noted by neighbors burning things in a bonfire.

Alex Cox looks to be highly involved in all of this but he is now deceased (natural causes). Neighter Lori nor Chad has been charged with murder at this point. Lori, in particular, has a lot of things lining up for her for a great defense.

And of course she always has her Mother who has staunchly defended her.

"....... with Jonathan Vigliotti of CBS NewsLori's mother and sister spoke out in her defense. But they didn't just defend the mom of two. Lori's mother, Janis Cox claimed that she spoke with J.J. back on October 1st, 2019. This is despite the fact that he was last seen alive the previous month."

"I talked to him. He just takes the phone, you know, and he knows — you know, he knows who we are," Janis explained.

".... Janis said, "She's invested her whole life in those children. So we know there's another whole side to this. We don't know what it is. But we know her. I'm positive beyond any doubt that she hasn't harmed those kids."
