Hulu Is Shutting Down Its Streaming Platform and It’s All Because of Disney+

Interesting news. We have been using HULU Live for a few years and have been happy with it. We will see how things change going forward.

I was wondering what happened. Our Hulu required multiple log in attempts to finally get in. Once in, it didn't work because of our VPN.

I stream through DIRECTV and We were told a week ago that the signature plans are getting access to ESPN dtc, Hulu, and Disney+ shortly. This fall will also see Peacock added. Streaming is definitely consolidating.

As a Hulu Live subscriber, hopefully this leads to a better mobile app. The current version is awful.

It was never going to work out with everyone trying to run their own. I also really wonder how many people "need to see shows first run" with the fragmentation. Many I see buy a month once a year, catch up on the 2 or 3 shows they care about on that service, and cancel till next year. Cable only pulled IMHO because you didn't have the on demand back catalog.

Others like me just don't watch enough TV at all to buy any, and sometimes watch a stream at a friend or family members house. Then again, we never paid for cable either.

I have not had cable for 6+ years. I have free Netflix with T-Mobile and I can get local channels either through Roku or a small indoor antenna. I do watch a lot of things on YouTube.

My grandson added me to his Hulu and Paramount+, but I seldom use either. Occasionally I check out Paramount.

When college basketball season starts, I sign up for SlingTV & ESPN+ (via Roku) so that I can watch the Jayhawks play since the Big12 chose that for their live TV programming. Once the season is over, I cancel.

As I have gotten older, I just do not watch TV that much. I will admit that when I checked Netflix last week, it is running Touched by an Angel now and I have been watching one or two of those each evening before going to bed. They are easy to watch and have happy endings.

Generally, I read my Kindle and mostly check the news on my computer.

I was just talking with my sister about cutting her cable connection.
However, she is a big fan of Hallmark Channel.
Any ideas how to access that station without cable?

I like cable TV. I can just push the voice button and tell it where to take me, including Netflix and Peacock programs. I also love to DVD programs and then watch later speeding through the commercials. I feel like I'd have to have numerous streaming services and a Numbers chart to keep up with which service offers what program.

Tubi and Pluto have a Hallmark Channel available for free streaming with commercials

There is also a streaming version of Hallmark Channel available with a subscription

Same with cable bundles surely - you just might be more familiar with it. Then again I don't do TV and so can't really comment further.

I've had it for so many years that I know the channel numbers or names that we watch. And there is a guide.

Over the last several years we’ve had DISH Network, Sling, YouTube TV and currently with DIRECTV Streaming. We love our current provider but must admit we miss the skipping of commercials we had with DISH. But DTVS offers voice controlled remote control with channel numbers just like cable. The guide can be sorted by channel number or alphabetically. All of our providers such as Netflix, Hulu, etc. have guide numbers assigned to them for easy access or by voice tuning. Commercials can be skipped by using the skip forward/back buttons. It automatically is programmed for 30 seconds forward and 10 seconds back per push. Best part is they offer a 2 year price lock. Best part for me is wife gets all her Hallmark channels and I get all the sports I need.
