I saw a similar thread on FT - and thought it was interesting...

How many SPs do you have?

Robin and I have about 200K SPs remaining
{we just used about 225K SPs for upcoming trips in 2009}

360k Thank goodness for AMEX. I had more but gifted a week in Phuket to my bro and another at the St. Regis in Singapore to me momma in law.

I also have incentive options to Purchase about 300k more.

I was thinking that perhaps something truly amazing might be worth bidding on www.spg.com/moments but nothing yet.

I have a balance of about 44k .On average I've been earning about 40-50k a year.Every Spring break we take a 5 night vacation with the SP's.I blew through the SP incentive 120,000 my first 2 years as an owner.

25k. I don't use the AMEX for anything except Costco and paying my MFs. I use my airline credit cards whenever I can as I find them to be more valuable.

90000 Starwood points (& 1.45 million American Airline miles :eek: )

I really need to plan a BIG trip.

294,080 SPG points.

I wish I had 1.45 million airline miles. You must be sick of flying, so you just want to stay home.

I plan to use some points this fall. I might head to London, but I haven't made my final decision yet.

Yikes! How did you get so many?

STJ soon... {tic, tic, tic...}

We use our American Express anytime we can. Groceries, gas, shopping, bills, even other timeshare purchases (Disney).

We got 100,000 in Staroptions as a gift from from a family member. Explorer package and WSJ purchase. WLR purchase and bonus.

Speaking of WSJ, we are having a dinner with our traveling buddies, to go over planning details for our trip.

410,000 and we probably add about 15,000-20,000 per month.

Use the Starwood AMEX for my dental office for labs and supplies. They add up fast. This summer, our vacation is a trade for our NJ Marriott timeshare for Newport Beach, CA!!! Of course, that means no chance to use the Starpoints so we're already planning a trip to Greece next summer, using those points for Business Class airfare and some high-level hotels.

Never a real problem figuring out how to get rid of them!

250,000sp in the account and have used 250,000 for this years trips.

have 500,000+ airmiles, 2 jetblue and 1 southwest waiting to be used and all my flights are booked for this year using airmiles.

i sleep better when i have at least 250000 starpoints in my account.

142,000 as of today. But we blew through 225,000 SPs this year for trips including Greece in the fall. :cheer:

I too but my business purchases on my cards plus all of our home expenses. We too bought DVC on our Starwood card. Hee hee.

85,000 from Amex promos (25K from Ameratrade, 10,000 sign on, 7k tour, 25K Amex business conversion) plus a little spending. I rarely use this card as Amex Costco is preferred card.

Man, you must travel alot! to get to that point!!!

We have approx. 197,500. Used about 100,000 last year for airfare. We will be using some for a Suite at the Westin downtown Thursday and Friday before 4th of July to enjoy some of the festivities and catch a Cardinal game. If we go back to see a Colts game in Indy, always stay at Westin on points.

Just over 200K, getting another 150K as the final incentive from the developer purchases to get us to 5* (yes, we did it. Now we REALLY have too many weeks and not enough vacation!).

I want to use some to check out the St Regis in Washington, DC this fall, just to see what kind of upgrade we get (and to do the touristy things with the kids, of course)!

Not enough vacation was exactly what stopped me (originally) - then the rule changes - then the change in the requirement in SOs. I will just have to be satisfied with the 4 weeks EY (1 LO) and 1 week EOY odd (LO) - and collecting SPs via AMEX mainly.

As I said before - we are taking 10 weeks off this year (we get an additional 6 weeks every 6 years) - so when we come back we will be almost starting over in vacation day accural - so much so - I have rented our 2 weeks in WKV next March - and will wait for WSJ in June10.

But before that - WSJ (2 weeks), Westin Napa (3 nites July4th on SPs), Park Lane - London (SPs w/ upgrade), Hotel Pultizer - AMS (SPs w/ upgrade), Westin Paris (SPs w/ upgrade), 2 weeks in WKORV (1 Bd OFD, 1Bd regular using SVN exchange of WKV), and 2 weeks WPORV (using both sides of the LO - our 1st visit).

Sorry - just daydreaming about vacation right now.... what I love about TSing (along w/ Tuggers...)

Not when you see our MFs... :D

Those SPs used for 2009 was from our EOY WPORV purchase w/ a 148.1K SO requal (EY WKORV) that got us to 3* (big whoop...) - those SPs were not worth the cost of purchase, but helped severly buffer the loss.

The real killer is the MFs (and not the actual purchase price) since there is no transparency or control for the ability of the HOA to raise MFs. And certainly not worth the >$2K in MFs to convert 148.1K SOs to 84K SPs (no matter what kind of fuzzy math is used) - oh wait a minute... I can get 5 nites at a SPG hotel (w/ 5th nite free) that has a published rack rate of >$400/nite - nevermind... :rolleyes:
