How many StarPoints do you have?

Not enough vacation was exactly what stopped me (originally) - then the rule changes - then the change in the requirement in SOs. I will just have to be satisfied with the 4 weeks EY (1 LO) and 1 week EOY odd (LO) - and collecting SPs via AMEX mainly.

As I said before - we are taking 10 weeks off this year (we get an additional 6 weeks every 6 years) - so when we come back we will be almost starting over in vacation day accural - so much so - I have rented our 2 weeks in WKV next March - and will wait for WSJ in June10.

But before that - WSJ (2 weeks), Westin Napa (3 nites July4th on SPs), Park Lane - London (SPs w/ upgrade), Hotel Pultizer - AMS (SPs w/ upgrade), Westin Paris (SPs w/ upgrade), 2 weeks in WKORV (1 Bd OFD, 1Bd regular using SVN exchange of WKV), and 2 weeks WPORV (using both sides of the LO - our 1st visit).

Sorry - just daydreaming about vacation right now.... what I love about TSing (along w/ Tuggers...)

you got me daydreaming. we leave for NYC for a weekend of theater for Mother's day. Leave for HRA next week, then go to Fla in JUne and NYC for Father's day for theater weekend, Orlando over JULY 4 weekend, then vermont over Labor day weekend, then the Italy trip for 12 days, seattle for new years,. Now have most of my plans for 2010. dreaming and planning is a fun part of this whole thing.

i agree though, the dreaming and planning is a fun part of this whole thing...

Approx. 334,000.

365,776 + 162000 in future reservations, some of which will probably be canceled = 527,776, and I've already used ~25,000 so far this year (after a credit rec'd... hmm, I'll post that story on another thread...)

451,000 Starpoints as of today, and already used 80,000 this year.

Much greater that 1 million.

Problem is I like staying in Timeshares more than hotels so I only use them for Air.

how many starpoints do you have

I had 366,000; after two hours on the phone I did not even have enough left for a cup of coffee. Five nights (three rooms) at the Westin Paris; Two nights (two rooms) at the Le Meridian in Monte Carlo and one night (two rooms) at the Sheraton at the airport in Paris. A great family vacation, three generations...........how great can this be? Eight weeks and counting.

I will almost kill for Starwood points. So many options. I love it!!!

any time you need someone to stay at a hotel to use them i will volunteer.don't forget some of them only last 6 years.

I've heard that they only last 4yrs in your account before they expire. Then I heard they only last 4 yrs if your account has had no activity. I had once made a reservation at the St. Regis Bora Bora for 420k Starpoints only to cancel 6months later because I couldn't get away from work. I got the credit back to my account and I was told the clock started over but to really not worry so long as my account had activity that my points would not be deleted/expire.

I second that.

I have a lowly  171K points, and that also as a result of another TUGer helping me acquire over 100K of them.

all starpoints acquired from timeshares will have 6 year expiration, any starpoints acquired from AMEX last forever. so if you convert your timeshare to starpoints in 2010 then they will expire in 2016. so use them.

Turned out to be an interesting thread - and duke has reappeared... duke started the requal thread which is the #1 read thread on the SVO forum and has led to many a requal and 5*/PFLs here
(hi duke - finally going to get to use our WPORV this year).

anyone have too many SPs that they want to send my way - feel free - glad to take them off your hands... ;)

How do they do that?

How do they differentiate them in your account. When you make reservations using points, do they ask you which "bucket" do you want your points to come from?

Hey, glad to be back, and much thanks for noticing as well as the 5*/PFL!

I guess my strategy was improved by SD Kath as she discovered the Upgrade methodology. Iam still unsure which was better.....Upgrade to requal or requal annuals by using developer EOY's.

Either way - it seems that the party has timed out.

We were at WPORV the second week it opened and had a great time.

Enjoy!

465K at this time. We used about 50K to book a stay at the Sheraton in Los Cabos this coming December and used another 130K to get some free tickets to Kauai for next April. We plan on using another ~80K to stay with our kids and grandkids at Disneyland next summer. Then, we plan to get serious and start saving for a long trip to Europe - maybe the Costa del Sol in Spain.

Thanks for that clarification of timeshare conversion to points vs AMEX Starwood points. Does this also mean that if I were to make a reservation with starpoints and if that reservation was cancelled the time period would refresh to another 6yrs from the point they were redeposited in my account?
