We own a White Week at Marriott Desert Springs Villas 2 and gave up a Thanksgiving Week and traded it to II. How will this pull using II giving that we gave up a Thanksgiving Week in 2016? Would our week trade well in II in terms of going to Hawaii in a 2 bedroom Villa?

Thanks for your input.

It depends on when you want to go to Hawaii. If you are willing to travel in the fall, I think your trade would be successful. However, if you are looking for a peak summer or winter week, I wouldn't count on it.

There are two things that make Hawaii Marriott's a hard trade.
  1. Most of the Marriott properties are lock off. So a lot of owners lock their units off and trade the smaller sides, this leaves a lot of 1BR and studio units sitting in II.
  2. Marriott offered a lot of DC points for enrolled Hawaii owners. This means that a lot of Hawaii owners enrolled in the Destinations Club program and a pretty high percentage convert their weeks to points. This leaves fewer deposits in II.

I think you will have the most success trying to trade in to Kauai (Waiohaii or Kauai Beach CLub) followed by Oahu (Ko'Olina). If you can get a good trade that will work, you can always add Eplus or if you are in DC you can retrade inside 60 days when more units seem to popup in II.

How about the Kona Coast Resort?

Thanks so much for your tips and quick response.

When are you trying to go to Hawaii, the season really has an impact on your question and did you lock off your unit or deposit the whole 2 bd?

I can't really speak to the 2 bd issue and I think that Dioxide is right that 2 bd's are harder to get in Hawaii Marriott's but it does happen.

For comparison my 2015 DSVII Thanksgiving week studio pulled a Maui Ocean studio for the week before easter 2016. My 1 bd side pulled a 1 bd Ko'Olina for the week after easter. Giving me two weeks over easter 2016.

I would think you would stand a pretty good chance for Kona Coast Resort since the Hawaii Island is less requested than Maui or Waikiki.

I have had excellent luck with my Thanksgiving week Marriott Shadow Ridge trading into Hawaii. Just went to Maui Ocean Club Nov 1 thru 8,2015.

I rarely make a request though. I tend to hunt and grab! Have always traded up in size. My mom owns Desert Springs 2 requests and has only not received her request once in 10 plus years. Not Jan Feb March requests but April,May,August, November.

Good luck!
