Las Vegas timeshare saves me money
The original post was how does timeshare save me money. Well that's why I bought in Vegas.
One of my first purchases was at JC in Vegas that I bought resale about 14 years ago. I own 14 timeshare weeks and of all of my timeshares my maintenance has gone up the least amount over the years in Vegas.
At this point my 1BR JC has lower maintenance than any of the studio units that I own and certainly lower than any 1 or 2 BR that I own. I have never used it to go to Vegas and never will. I have been trading this week every year and for the past 10 years have used it as one of the units that I exchange or rent for a family vacation. If I add the exchange fee and my maintenance I save about $500 per week over renting the week which is spring break when schools are closed in NY.
I have also used it for other trades where it saved me at least $1,000 over renting. JC also allows me to exchange my week one year in advance without pre-paying the maintenance so I always book my exchange about 18 months in advance allowing me a better opportunity to get the trade I want.
Recently I purchased RCI points at Summer Bay in Las Vegas through Ebay because of the low maintenance fees vs points. On my first two exchanges I was able to get Aruba in January 2011 which I was never able to get even with my strongest trader in RCI.
Am I happy with my Vegas ownerships???
You Bet!!!!
Can I get comped in Vegas???? No way, since I am not a gambler but as someone else posted who owns at Summer Bay I am expecting to get my owners comp for 3 days from Summer Bay, to attend the owners "update" so for most tuggers who are not gamblers I would bet this is the only way they too will get comped.
I have also taken advantage of JC owners rate to got to Vegas 4 or 5 times for 3-4 nights that I added on to a west coast business trip over the past 12 years. Staying at a hotel would have cost me at least twice as much since they always included the weekend when rates are the highest in Vegas.
So does owning in Vegas save me money?????? You bet!!!
Will it save you money??? I have no idea since you may be better off staying in a hotel for a comp or low rate depending on your gambling habits.
So getting back to the original question can owning timeshare save the OP money? I don't know since we all have different wants and needs but has it saved me money, You bet it has!!!!!
Again, there are way too many blanket statements throughout this thread that may be true for the individual posters but not necessarily true for the majority on this BB.
Hey even this posting of mine may be only true for me, but I suspect it is true for many other Tuggers who are not gamblers.
