The site is now saying it is down for maintenance. This line made me laugh for some reason.... "website, mobile app and system are temporarily unavailable due to maintenance. Currently, we do not have a confirmed completion time."

I think the HGVC tech team will shortly be replaced by talented high school students who are more capable.

I also tried to login this morning. It looked like HGV IT might be trying to implement a new website because I got a message at one point that I needed to create a new login. Of course that didn’t work.

I logged in after getting the warning.

I'm in the middle of transferring 5 weeks to my account, so I'm a little anxious to get the points and book some weeks next year. One of the 5 weeks shows up, but the other ones aren't there yet. Surprisingly, the system shows us as HGV MAX, and our elite status has been removed (no longer free reservations).

What a mess they have on their hands.

If you truly are in Max, then you will have no booking fees. I suspect that showing Max is a mistake on HGVCs part.

at least as of 1am eastern, there is a big banner across the top of the hgvc page stating that the website has been fully restored, and they apologize for any inconvenience!

Welp, I’m still In max. The booking fees have gone away, but I only have one guest certificate.

I know, at least, a couple of people that have had the same thing happen. One person that I know is all resale, over 100k, and they made them Centum with their latest resale weeks. I would suggest not contacting them yet. See what happens when the others come in. If they all come in as Max, you can then evaluate your Max Tier level versus you Elite tier. If you want to be Elite, then you can contact them.

The website is broken again. I saw the "it's all better now" message and went to login, and I received a notice that the connection was dropped.

Worked fine for me after a delay. This looks more like a brief server glitch rather than a website issue.

Cheers.

The one thing I have learned with any developer website. Print a copy: When you make a MF payment print it;
When you make a reservation print it for your file
When you have new points to start a new year it. Print it.
On Dec 31 of every year print all financial statements & ts exchanges for your personal file

That's one option. I rarely do this and have not had a problem. I will keep pdf copies of some thing (I don't print things), but not things that I can easily get online. I don't consider little glitches like this to be impediments to that.

But printing copies of things is certainly less risk.

Cheers.

So I spent a good deal of time wargaming what benefits I lose as a max member versus those that I use.

I rent my home weeks regularly, and I have sent a few friends on our points this year. So losing guest certs matter. We have also converted points, so that matters too.

More importantly, there’s no availability at the resorts that I would have been interested, namely Maui and International destinations. I mean there’s literally just a day or two for the next 6 months. I would have been really frustrated if I actually paid money for this.

I called to get it fixed.

I would have waited until the other weeks came in. If they count for Max, it would raise your med level and you get more free certs plus other benefits. Then you could compare to elite.

You can't make a jusgement about the HVC availability in Max by a single check. I don't know how the inventory gets added to max but there seems to be some dumping in but I can't tell the pattern. For example, I won't see Tahoe or sedona inventory, then I'll see a lot. Then back down to nothing. I've never seen kauai inventory. Most of my searches are close in however. I've seen the international locations pop up and down in similar manner.

I understand. I am not sure that I would keep it either if I was given it for free. I certainly would have to evaluate it.

The legacy elite owner group will continue to get smaller and the Max group will continue to get larger. Their focus will be to strengthen the Max program and, it would not surprise me, if they start reducing elite benefits. We are Elite Premier and hope they don't but it would not surprise me if they do.

Right now there are only a few elite qualifying places and all new owners go automatically into Max.

I agree. That's the major reason I chose to go into max instead of staying elite premier. I figure elite program will be toast some time in the future. The increased club dues is offset by $100 resort credit. The $700 open season credit also convinced me.

IMO, this does make sense. What several of us currently think is that Max is actually an exchange program between HGVC and HVC similar to how RCI works.
