I was looking on my HGVC account and it indicates home week check-in is Friday. Do you know if that means you have to follow that strictly or would a Saturday to Saturday in the same period be okay to rent? For my remaining weeks in 2024, there are no Fri-Fri availability, but is Sat-Sat or Sun-Sun
You have to follow it exactly. When you book your HW, it is exactly what you own, unit size, check in day, 7 days, and during the season that you own.

This is one reason many do not use their HW.

Rules are rules.
If you start on a day other than the weekly check-in day, it is a club booking, not a home-week booking.

Don't think you meant to put the "not" in front of club booking since that is what it would be

that's what I wanted to know, thanks. Seems like a strange rule, but then again, many of them are.

It’s in place to keep the home week inventory even. Your deed has the room type and season. If someone booked starting on Wednesday, there might not be enough weeks at certain places that have high use of home weeks.

Good Craig weeks are between 0.07 and 0.10 MF/pt and the last three weeks that I bought cost us 0.24 total purchase price/ pt. Is Embarc better?
Embarc doesn't have "weeks", as mentioned above it is points and they apply to seasons and room sizes. What is a "good" Craig week? What can you get with 3000 points? 5000 points? 10,000 points? When (which week) are you getting it? We can compare prices after some "tangibles" are given. 10¢ sounds good but if it gets you half of what 15¢ gets you in another points system, maybe it's not that good. And yes you can get an Embarc membership for under 24¢ USD per point. How many points (or dollars) do you need to buy (total) to get 3 weeks (for what weeks, what size room?)? It may not be the same number as what is required elsewhere for the same thing. What does a Tier 6 DEX exchange cost a Craig owner for a 3 bdrm in peak (highest) season in fees? What does it cost an Embarc member?
I just want to make the point that quoting a fee per point in one system doesn't necessarily mean that it is of the same "value" in another.

Why not buy Embarc or DRI resale? It will be a LOT cheaper than buying HGVC retail and give you much better access (for Embarc 11 months out instead of 6 with Max). Embarc and DRI trade with Interval if you get a direct membership with them.
Do we know how long the existing II affiliation agreements are? I would suspect that Embarc and DRI may go to RCI when those agreements expire?

II isn't "officially" affiliated with Embarc any more, however Embarc (and Interval) allow us to book using points and then Embarc confirms the points are available. They do something similar with SFX by confirming booking deposits. I doubt they'll go to RCI as they are pushing DEX - their own exchange system

can you roll over points from 1 year to another? If so, is there a fee to do that?

Yes, points can be Saved from one year to the next. I think it's about $79 if done before the end of August and like $119 if later. I may be slightly off on the figures, but that's about right.

Cheers.

Only once though, for example, you can roll 2024 to 2025 but you can't roll those same points then to 2026...so, only to the next year.

Higher status folks can roll for free though.

I agree with your statement about keeping the availability even. Furthermore, insisting on "Home Week" reservations be from a certain day of the week to a certain day of the week is a reflection on the traditional timeshare ownership model where what you bought was a vacation week that you can go to every year OR exchange through an exchange company to go somewhere else. There were no internal exchange systems there was just RCI, II and a few others. HGVC created its internal exchange system that enabled using points to reserve at any of the HGVC resorts at 9 months before called Club Reservations. This was a major improvement over the traditional timeshare system and made HGVC very attractive.
