Dear HGVC owners,
Could you advise on good HGVC resorts or RCI deposited points, for stay in Hawaii.

Important consideration is bookable in next 4months. So offer good chance to get booking.

- Looking for 1bedroom, Kitchen- 1week stay.

- Not looking to eat out a lot.

- Is rental car needed? Don’t want a rental if high parking fee at the resort.

I am sure you need more info like what activities, which island etc. I am looking for ideas to frame my plan. Nothing specific. If possible use my RCI deposit points.

Thank you in advance.

The is good availability at the various HGV resorts on the Big Island of Hawaii. I just added some days to our long planned trip to Kingsland and there is still good availability here, as well as Kohala Suites, Bay Club and Ocean Tower.

We really like Kingsland and usually stay there, but i know Bay Club uses less points and has many fans here on Tug.

I actually just booked 4 nights at the new Ocean Tower before our week at Kingsland. We could spent the entire trip in one room at KL, but i was curious to see how Ocean Tower is, and figured this was good way to test it out.

Bay Club is excellent if you like peace and quiet. Free shuttle runs to shopping every 1/2 hour. You will need a shuttle from airport but thats it.

We have stayed at the Bay Club several times and like it a lot. However we always rent a car as we don't want to be stuck in the resort area our entire time there. Too much else to see and do on the Big island.

We have also stayed in Waikoloa several times. You need a car; it's a Big Island.

To go back to the original question. I am not an HGVC owner, but I think the only HGVC resorts on on Oahu and the Big Island. Those are completely different types of locations and vacations. You really do need to decide more on what type of activities you want, which island or islands you want to visit. There are RCI resorts on all of the islands.

Luanne is correct, the vacation experience is very different between Oahu / Waikiki and the Big Island. One is urban with lots of shopping, night life, etc and the other is very laid back / slow paced.

I think all of the HGV locations on Oahu charge for parking. While the parking is free at the HGV locations on the Big Island with the exception of Ocean Tower which charges $36 to $39 per night.
