The # of HGV properties are lower esp in Northern California.

Like some good trip ideas to use HGV points or RCI points from experienced HGV owners on West Coast please. Thanks

Your locations are limited to Las Vegas and Carlsbad, but those are good options to have. Even tough we live in Las Vegas we have stayed at two resorts there- Trump and Elara. For Carlsbad we have stayed at MarBrisa, which we like, and have visited the other two resort there.

While limited locations, you definitely have some good options.

Best regards.

True. But as west coast owners, we didn't buy our timeshare to use here. We live here and go elsewhere, Primary places are New York (where we own) and Hawai'i Island, using Vegas points. We also own DVC points and sure as hell don't waste them in Anaheim :)

So, for us anyway, out location and the location of the resorts are unrelated.

Although there is one in San Francisco, theoretically, but only books for whole weeks and we'd use that periodically when driving up for concerts if we could get 1-2 nights (or even the 3 min for most HGV resorts).

Cheers.

Diamond Resorts (DRI) was recently bought by HGVC and it has many resorts on the west coast BUT at this time no one knows how HGVC will mix DRI into HGVC.

To each their own, but I would absolutely not buy HGVC with the intention of regularly using the points in RCI. HGVC points are generally much more valuable in HGVC than in RCI. If you are going to use RCI heavily, best to get a good RCI affiliated trader.

I agree. Not buy HGV for RCI but used converted RCI points.

I agree that it is frustrating. I love HGVC and we own MVC to get to the Desert options. I am hoping w/ Diamond we can get more options since I can not get into Carlsbad until the summer(Regulated to school calendar)
We are using points for Hawaiian trip next fall. Otherwise I would seriously look into selling points.

Woof woof from this dog As a HGVC owner of around 12000 points and an east bay boy We have used RCI to keep our travels local (IE no air flights) to have great stays in Tahoe, Northern California beachs, and to stay even up north in Washington.

yes trading Club points for any other type of stay is not effecent. Once you see the Ratio of cost Lots of times a location is found And A cash or trade can be done with others... or there are many that have what you want and vice versa

RCI has very little value using HGV points since the exchange fee has gone up so high and resorts are charging fees on top of local occupancy taxes.

I was just looking around to use some saved points that are expiring, I noticed the Worldmark in Windsor, CA has no daily fee. Could be something to consider, close to Napa, north coast, and redwoods.

The getaway sales are not bad either, Worldmark Angels camp available with no resort fee, not sure if the fires are affecting that location but its nice in the fall.
